This rumor might not surprise anyone, but Ducati is alleged to be bumping the 1098R out of the line-up for 2010, finally calling the Superbike homologation by its 1198cc capacity, and erasing any reference to the 1098 line.
To help distance the 1198R from the 1098R, and to help abate any pressure that might be felt by the BMW S1000RR and Aprilia RSV4, a power boost is expected as well in 2010. The 1098R is rated at 180hp, and the 1198R is expected to make 190hp at 10,000 RPM.
No definite word on price yet, but its looks like something north of €35,000. With the way pricing works, and currency gets converted, it’s too hard to say now what that will be in US dollars.
