First Up,

Hi to one and all

A wee question for you.

My 2001 RSVR, seems to struggle to push past the 151mph mark! (On a Track Day) I know it's not every day we spend time at these speeds! however just wish to know others personal experiences.

She's on standard gearing, with titanium twin stack system mit chip, standard air box.

Many Thanks

Martin

You must have:

One hell of a head wind

Modified gearing

A throttle that never hits 100%

By the way, welcome to the asylum.

Welcome on board Tingo/Martin. Any picamtures of the beasty sir? :thumbup

When you say struggle, do you mean it is still creeping up, or has nigh on stopped pulling once you reach 151mph? Any ideas as to what revs it is pulling at that point in 6th? :dunno

You know, my old beast (same vintage) doesn't seem inclined to go much above 150 (but then maybe it's my love handles causing aerodynamic drag!) Should a 'normal' Mille (standard 17-42 gearing, less restrictive can) be creeping past this sort of speed or blasting past it?

G'day there matey, welcome to the RSVzone

Has the airbox bung been pulled from inside bottom of unit? Airducts deristricted?
Standard airfilter systems don't give much flow. If you have a desrestricted pipe and suited fuel chip, then the airbox also needs to be opened up, or at least a high flow air filter. Then chk setup, ie throttle body balance & postion for 0% - 100% opening. Tuning correct? O2%s etc ?? Probably not! How old are your spark plugs? Go for max air intake first off, if not already done.
Sounds like you need to dyno tune to bring all in sync.

AusRSV and the lads Many Thanks for the info,

I've just purchased the air box kit, with hi flow filter, so will keep you posted on the development.

Also I'll post pic's a few of her!

Another question,...............................:eatcorn

Anyone encountered rear brake problem?

I have a slightly unnerving encounter where by the rear brake progressively sized on while riding!

The rear caliper is a A1 condition, pads 100% adjustment fine (I like a lot of travel as not to lock the rear while trailing rear brake mid corner.

On closer inspection, it appeared the master cylinder became so hot (Heat Sink from the engine block that the fluid expanded and effectively pushed the pistons out, I'm going to manufacture a wee heat shield to protect the rear master cylinder.

Any info lads

Cheers

Mart

Mart, you can buy that wee heat shiled for about £4 on www.rsvr.net to save you the hassle of manufacturing one bud. By the way, is that "wee" a "scottish" term!! If so where about's in Bonnie Scotland??

Thats the one fault of the location of the std brake mc..it gets hot allright. Also ensure that the link rod free play adjustment is correct..it must have a small amount of play..or the brake can seize for sure.
Evolutione airkit i have fitted..this makes the engine breath very well..you will then be best to dyno tuned after this. Good luck with it all matey, yes keep us posted with your results :D Enjoy bud :thumbup
