i plan to get a post 2003 rsvr (new shape)

can some one tell me or point me in direction of some information on the differences between the years

eg, benifits of buying a 2004 over a 2003 or 2006 over 2005 etc.

i was planning to get a 2003 or 2004 model but would really love the 2005 red one with the lion on the side...but if there no difference other than paint il prob just get an earlyer one. hope someone can help me.

cheers

Latest model 2003.5 onwards RSVR 1000 and Factory are unchanged for Model years 2003.5 and 2004. Some of these models suffered problems with clutch master cylinder, swing arm recall replacement and mileometer resetting to 0 when battery removed ( check history )

2005 RSVR's got radial calipers and new paint and graphics and clear lenses. Factory got new paint and graphics and clear lenses

2006, 2007 and 2008 models were revised with uprated revised engine, electronics and paint, bodywork and graphics changes. A new revised exhaust system with new style cans. RSVR got Ohlins front forks as standard and OZ copy wheels. Factory still keeps Ohlins front and rear and OZ forged wheels from previous years

If you can stretch your budget, go for a used 2005 Factory or 2006 RSVR as there are some good deals out there at the moment. Pay around £5000 - £5500 for a mint used one with cans and full dealer history

2003.5 and 2004 Factory had Ohlins F&R, Ohlins SD, Brembo radials, OZ wheels and carbon bling in addition to RSV-R (See my avatar <<<<<<)

was gonna spend £4000 to £4500 hence a early one, im gonna keep saving tho, hopefully a good factory will be about in couple of months.

You should easily be able to get a nice 53 / 04 plate Factory for 4.5K or less

Best to buy sooner than later, prices always jump up in the Summer.

I got an 06 RSVR last june with less than 5K on the clock with all the factory bits on it other than the Carbon bits and Oz wheels for less than £6K. It has the Ohlins rear, Ohlins SD, Evo Air Box, Acro exhausts, Carbon hugger, tail tidy, Datatool Alarm etc etc and also came with all of the standard parts so there are bargains to be had out there.

I would like the extra carbon bling but can't bring myself to spend the cash on it.
