Hi People, I have just joined the vtwin gang after selling my R1 and I must say WOW i love my new machine that i picked up today. I do have a question tho, when riding it back today i noticed that the lcd display doesnt work very well, you can tell that the speed is changing but you cant actually read what it says if you know what i mean. would be gratefull for some help.

cheers

You have to replace the clocks as the lcd is not sold seperately. Changing the clocks is pretty easy, you don;t even need to take the nose fairing off, just the screen

But gettin a hold of a gen2 one is tough youve got to be quick on fleabay there not on for any more than 10mins,i should know still haven't got one bollocks hey who needs indicators anyway lol

hi again, this might be a stupid question but here goes. If i change my clocks what happens to my mileage? is the mileage kept in the clocks itself, i ask the question because ive only got 4800 miles and dont want to lose them (
cheers in advance for your help, and a big thanks to Bryanthegoat for the manuals and engine stuff too. thanks dude

Change the clocks and you lose the mileage. Unless you pay a third party to re program the miles back into the new clocks.

Yeah just wot Spoonz said bought a brand new set from my dealer yesterday for £200 still cheaper than the £400 aprilia want and i don't have to worry about them knackering up if id bought from fleabay,no probs about the manuals m8 hope they come in handy,I think people who can fix the milage on clocks are becomeing thin on the ground as it is becomeing more common for them to get into trouble with the law....

cheers spoonz, bry £200 from your dealer who was that ? i tried my aprilia dealer today and was told nearly £500 but he did say that if i did buy off ebay or anywhere else to make sure it comes with a code or it wouldnt work? is this true?
if i was to unplug the clocks from the bike will that reset them too as there no longer connected to the battery?
and fook the LAW the wrong mileage on the speedo will be the least of my worry if im pulled lol itll be going past them on the back wheel at 90 pmsl

it's not against the law to have an inaccurate odometer reading,,

Jurs1979, your dealer is talkin ***** about the code the clocks simply plug in no worries on the tuono the imobiliser is in the clocks so you either have to get new keys chipped to the dash , on the rsv the immobiliser isny in the dash, it might be worth giving my dealer a shout he might have another set lying about they are jim allen based in falkirk tel 01324620111 then press 1 to go to parts, just don't let them talk you into any work there pish but handy for parts, and Pat it might not be illegal to have the wrong milage but it is illegal to tamper with the milage .........Bikes good for next saturday just changed the oil and filter and gettin the tyres fitted on sat so good to go lookin forward to it m8 haven't been out on the bike since the last ride oot.....

Nice one bry your the man I'll give them a bell over the weekend and let you know how I get on

Just replaced my clocks thanks to ebay...damp got the better of them over the winter and i was waiting til a tidy set appeared.
I to would also be very interested who repairs these.
First thing to do if your clocks are still ok is to open them up and give them a light coating in ACF50....designed to waterproof electronics so ideal for this.

company called cluster repairs 01493300716, theyve got mine now and repairing as we speak for a max of £99 worst case. Altho i wasnt bothered with knowing my speed i do like things to work as they should and couldnt stand having my watch strapped to the top yolk lol
