On the rear cylinder what's the best plan of attack to remove the exhaust header? Space in there is utter LOL worthy...

im guessing the combination of a pivot joint and varying lengths of extensions.. where there's a will there's a way

Literally just managed it after a lot of swearing trying to figure out the best plan of attack. Still got two studs on the front cylinder to replace as they snapped with the nut, seized solid would be an understatement...

mine are the same... they have actually corroded that much that there isn't what you would call a nut left holding them on... i actually think if you even thought about touching them with a socket they would explode in a mist of corrosion in your face.. so im just leaving well alone!

How do you guys get these to a stage like this ??? Haven't you head of maintenance LOL , This is one of the service thing I do to customers bikes undo & retorque bolts to maintain them .. Rear exhaust nuts is easy take the tank off & get the top nut with a ring & openender spanner then the bottom 2 are done with a 6" long 1/4" extenstion bar with a knuckel joint swivel same with the front but without the swivel ... Oh yea put some heatproof grease on them when reattaching them ...

Yes, it's always the previous owners. lol

Rob :)

in my case it was the previous owner.. he has no mechanical sympathy what so ever.. rode the thing through 2 harsh winters with not a pick of maintenance on 2 bald tyres.. threw the thing down the road twice in ice, then once at a track day and then finally at nearly 100mph on the road... and the bike was the mint of mintest RSVRs i'd seen when he bought it.. he just has a knack for turning things to **** lol

anyway she's restored to her former glory in essence now anyway lol

I have removed my mid section (the spagetti box) between the headers and the exhausts, but can't get them back on. Do I need to take the headers off? Mine is a 2007 RSVR Factory and header nuts have never been removed. Rear cylinder bolt is already round.... open spanner result.
I can slide the midsection into the front cylinder header but then the rear cylinder header is about 1/2 inch (just over 1 cm) away from the mid section box.
Any ideas how to get my mid section back on?
