Any ideas anyone please. My 2002 RSV wouldnt start but rev counter went to 6, is this a diagnostics tool.

Hi mate, if the rev counters at 6 the speedos probably also in KM now?
Its a low voltage problem if you get that it resets the clocks (to KM and shift light)
Is your battery kept on an Optimate or similar? it takes more power to start bikes in the cold so will probably be related.

yep time to invest in an optimate an leave it plugged up..
also an uprated battery as they have something like 3-400 more cranking amps

Had to put a new battery on mine when I got her.... Same prob as yours. I always use an optimate now.
Funny you should say that, Went to my local aprilia dealer(C&A superbikes, kinglynn) and they say the same, Luckely they have optimate in stock so i will be wiring RSV up tonight, Thanks for your help guys, RSV zone is awesome.
As your bike is an 2002 it is possible that this was laready done but check whether the starter solenoid is the original if so it will be 50 amp and you can upgrade it to 150amp (Yamaha) one for not a lot of £'s and it's well worth it. Griff at Aprilia Performance sells them - dead easy to fit. Located under the seat right behind the battery

Thanks for that. I will look in to making the mod, which model solenoid would i want. The bike was turning over fine just not firing.
