hi all like to say hello first new on here been a member of a couple of other aprilia member clubs for a while but only recently found this one. wonder if any one could help me just getting the bike ready for mot and just put the standard and heavy can back on but this time i decided to change the chip in the cdu bad move broke a couple of the pins off don't no yet if standard chip works as bought on e-bay a while ago don't normally bother but bike chokes up with titanium chip and standard can and mr plod stopped me last outing so i thought i'd run standard for a while. after all that question is does any one no where i could possibly send the chip to have new pins put in to save the cost of a new chip

Welcome mark :thumbup so did mr plod let you off then :dunno id guess that getting another chip would be just as cheap as getting it repaired :dunno That standard can sure will weigh you down for sure...is the other can too loud or something ... if it is you mite want to try and re pack it to soften up mr plods ears :thumbup

no mr plod couldn't find not for road use on it its rsv titanium can and last i heard was about £350 for can and chip don't think it can be packed so i think would be cheaper to repaIR

What can is it then :dunno... see what you mean ... £350  mr plod would be quite happy with mine... totally legal and stamped for road use of course :devious

If Plod can't find 'Not For Road Use' on it, then its not a big problem unless you get pulled over on each and every rideout. Even the standard can is louder than Jap inline fours as I've just changed from a Jap bike (with a Micron full system) to the Mille (was standard can now with an Arrow Titanium Race can on it). The Mille on a standard can was still louder than the Kawasaki was.

Mmm mines proper quiet :devious wonder where the baffles went :confused:lol:lol . You must of had a really quiet can on the kwak if the standard mille can is louder :confused stock cans are very restrictive as you probably know so each to there own m8 ... plod wont pull you if your sensible and keep the noise level to a reasonable level especially through towns, keep the revs low and hide the real sound till your out in the country :devious

Have you tried running the bike with the broken chip? Many of the pins are redundant and will have no effect on the running of the engine.

Cheers.

H..

:stupid and i very much doubt you would be able to repair the pins anyway ....

depending how good you are with a soldering iron id be tempted to do the repaire myself a couple of strands of heavy duty fuse wire soldered to where the pins broke off should do it or go on ebay there are some cheapish chips on there

thanks for the replies standard seems ok thought their was a problem at first but turning idle up a notch seemed to work ok :biggrin
