Hi my name is alan and im a new member.

I have problems with RSV rev counter, the rev counter is 1000 rpm out and i have put it in to a garage and the advise the garage gave me was new one required.

Thats fine but:

1) A new instrument cluster is £450 from aprilia

2) A second hand one is £150 which is fine but has old bike mileage on it, does anybody know how i can clock the new instrument cluster to match my existing mileage?

Cheers
Alan

what year bike is it mate, when i got my 2001 rsv the rev counter worked but was 4000rpm out, i ended up taking the clocks apart(simple enough job) and sliding the needle off the spindle and putting it back on at the correct position. hope this helps.

I think there was another suggestion,(search rev counter) try disconnecting the battery for a few seconds to see if it corrects itself.

Hi mate,

Cheers for the reply, my bike is a 2001 to, once i get the bike back i will try that then.

Hopefully it is that simple.

Thanks again

Alan

Im from Scotland, new to RSV's bought mine on wednesday from reading, had and R6 4 years ago but love the aprilia. :)

Just a bit disappointed when it didn't start, but then again i did flood it, thats why its in the garage getting checked over.

Not sure if this is the problem you are having but mine was stuck at 4000 RPM. I unhooked the bike from the battery for about 2 minutes and hooked it back up and it then reset the RPM Needle back to Zero.

Hope that works for you too.

Kai
