Over at Forza's yesterday and Iain said that one of the magazines, can't remember which one :dunno, has put these 2 bikes together and apparently the RSV walked away with it. The article should be out in the next couple of months. If I discover the magazine name I'll let you know.

But saying that wasn't the suzuki 750 voted allround sportsbike of the year and thats got 250cc less than its bigger brother

yeah the 750 was supposed to be the ideal track bike size. it depends what things you're taking into consideration. just performance?...the bigger bike is almost always going to win.

-:banana

The suzuki 750 was given the allround sportsbike title so that takes everything into consideration but your right if it was speed then the bigger bike should win if its put against something in the same class ie:sportsbike and when you think if a Ducati 848 was put against bikes in its own category then it would be up against 600cc sportsbikes.........

I'm a bit surprised, about the same HP, lower weight, I would have said the newer bike was going to win, can't wait to read about it.

Back in the day the 851/888 Ducati ran with the 750's in WSBK and AMA. As time wore on the displacement was brought up to meet class limits...or as we see now class limits were raised to meet the bike. Ducati wanted more displacement to be able to be competitive in the 600 and 1000 cc classes so now you are seeing the 848 and 1098/1198R. The 848 will race here in the states in the 600/AMA Formula Extreme class, were Larry Pegram was racing a 749/848 kitted bike last season. But if you look at it, todays 600's are at or above the power level of the early/mid 90's 750 class bikes and it is part of the reasoning behind the 848's entry into the 600 class.

its a really light bike according to the specs..cant remeber exactly but its something like 10 kilos? lighter(than Std.rsv) and more powerfull than my 02 at 126bhp.
Hate to say it but I like it(even in white), wont change mine tho!
with my A/ mileage I aint stumping for Ducrappy servicing
cheers Ck

Just about 20 kilos lighter....~50 lbs.... That's quite a difference and right in the 600 class weight with an R6 in at 366 lbs. (166 Kg). And at 134 HP I imagine that they are right inline to beat on the 600 class.

I'm getting a new bike and the RSV and 848 are almost the same price. If you apply the rule of for every 7 lbs you lose you can 1 hp to the bottom line that would the 848 an extra 7hp in a dyno comparison!

think that the mag was Fast Bikes, that said the mille factory came 3rd and the Ducati 4th. Beaten by the 1098 and the gsxr 750 i think. The reason the 848 came last was the lack of feel which Ducati claim was a result of it being so track focussed, but the testers went on to say that the Factory showed that you can have a bike that can perform brilliantly on track and still have good feedback. The final commment also went on to say, that if the voting was done by heart and not head, you could turn the result on its head, Factory and 848 beating the suzy and the other Duke. Obviously, they also made reference to the price which puts Factory right up there when there is such discounts available. If you dont read fast bike, you need to know the lads on the test, nothing other than the fastest will do. They might appreciate the high spec and the joy of owning certain machines, but they dont like coming second...........
