RSV Factory running problems?

Hi guys, following on from my mate looking for a bike, we looked at a RSV factory yesterday, and the seller being very honest told us the bike has a running fault, it drops onto one cylinder and refuses to go back onto two. We didn't hear the bike running as the battery was flat, but we are hoping to go back next week.

Now, the bike in question has had:

1) The ECU replaced
2) New plugs, leads checked
3) New generator

and has been to an Aprillia main dealer a number of times, but the fault persists. Are there any known issues with these bikes? It is an 04 plated model, and up for VERY good money as it stands, so we are wondering if it is worth the chance?

Any ideas or reccomendations as where to ask? :thumbup

Runaway!!!

If an Ape dealer can't find the fault then how are you gonna find it?

If you was to take the plunge then check out the immobiliser ECU behind the front fairing panel, tends to corrode and cause all kinds of mayhem.

I don't have a vast amount of trust in main stealers, generally they lack the will/knowledge to think outside of their tech instructions!

The charging system is the biggest flaw on the 04/05 bikes. Hence why maybe his batt is flat and it's had a new generator/stator.

If you can i would ask what the charge voltage on the dash is and if the suspect connector behind the water expansion tank has been checked.

Failing that coils and wiring looms have been known to give issues. Aprilia replaced quite a few looms on early 04 bikes due to spurious faults appearing.

It could well be the immobliser ECU. There is some sort of relay in there which can stick and causes permanent draw from the battery. ...

dead Battery = Sprag failure if the guy doesnt know what hes doing.

Walk away and find another Bike.

It's the atmos sensor that clicks.

Not sure why it would take it onto 1 cylinder though if it were that :dunno
