My two penneth for what it's worth. I have an '07 RSV which comes with 2 fuel maps built in, it just takes a dealer with the diagnostic kit to switch it from one to the other. I assume changing the EPROM on yours would amount to the same modification?
When I changed my silencers from standard to Arrows I had a bit of a fuelling glitch, I had already fitted a high flow air filter before the pipes. At highish revs, go to a neutral throttle and then on opening it again there was a horrible stutter rather than power. Switching to map 2 cured that for me. Mind you, the bike does use more fuel now!
The combination of the pipes, air filter and map seemed to move the power down the rev range which is ideal for the road, as well as sorting the above fuelling glitch. I suppose my advice would be, if your bike's running OK leave it as it is. That's a fair amount of money for that chip mate.
