Hi all

I want to buy an RSV. Is there a site that contains infomation as to what changed happened each year and which years the factory versions got what etc..? Or do you have a topic on here already explaining this like this?

So I can work out which bits I want and which year to go for? I dont even know what Bhp each ear had.

Cheers

Sheldon

hi there bikerz and welcome

im sure you will find all the info you need here in the forums - if not just ask again

love my 57 plate factory - top bike

Cheers guys. So basically the real big change is just 2001? I know the earlier models are meant to be alot heavier so after 2001 these are the lighter ones?

No, the big change came in late 2003 with a complete new model. 1st generation bikes were 1998 to 2003 with revisions in 2001, then new model in late 2003 to 2009 with revision for 2006

and all revisions practically without the rear brake :)

Sorry waht does this mean? All I can workout is your refering to somthing about rear brake that people change on the earlier ones to the same as the later ones?

Mine works fine too, however all model RSV and later model RSVR including Factory can suffer from a poor rear brake due to the close proximity of the rear master cylinder to the exhaust down pipe. Air bubbles form in the brake fluid due to excessive heat causing a spongy rear brake pedal, to what degree depends on whether head shield is fitted, how fresh the brake fluid is and whether the correct bleeding method is used.

Ah ok. Cheers guys, race can and heatshield will help (race cans have less baffles so never get as hot)

A heat shield will help, they are about £8.00 from Aprilia and fit all models, standard on later models, but the rear brake master cylinder is mounted to the lower right hand side of the engine in front of the rear brake pedal and nowhere near the exhaust end can so it's irrelevant what can is fitted
