RSV delivers almost no power/struggles to rev

I stripped and cleaned my air box recently and the spigot type thing of which you speak is just blanked off in the inside. I assume this airbox would be used on various models and maybe has a purpose on a different machine.

Great! Another one of my list, thanks!

have you checked you are getting full throttle?
look at the butterflies in the throttle bodies to make sure they are opening fully.
did you also check the tps?

Yep, checked it when i was cleaning the air filter.. They open up completely.
How can i check the tps? And could there be a problem with that even if the tb's open correctly?

It's becoming a true quest over here haha, i'm going to check some final things just to be sure, put it back together and tomorrow morning i'm off to the clubmeeting.. Will update tomorrow!

TPS check.
Wind out fully the fast idle knob
With ignition off connect the diagnostic wires (behind right hand cover under seat)
snap throttle closed a few times to make sure it is fully closed
Turn on ignition
Dash should read zero (0)
If there is a 1 or -1 it needs to be reset to zero.

wires look like this

Done, it reads a -1

I guess the dealer has to reset the tps?

The TPS is on the end of the Throttle bodies.

Connect two diag wires together
Wind tick over screw right out
Turn key on - dash shows -1
Lift tank
Loosen Torq bolts on TPS
Turn TPS unit until dash reads 0
Tighten Torq bolts and rechecked dash - still 0
Put everything back together
Disconnect diag wires
reset tick over
Test ride

well done....doing mine later after I swap throttle bodies

The TPS wont make the bike run terrible though, mine has been set to -1 since i got it doesnt bother me i dont get any loss of power. Its got more grunt than a fat lass on a pushbike.

But thanks for the pics gregorious i may as well set to zero tonight now i know how

It's fixed!!!

after all that work it turns out to be something stupid... :rant

I went into the shop at the Aprilia dealer and asked one of the mechanics if he had any ideas, he then took it for a test drive and told me that throttle couldn't be openend completely.
It turns out that the previous owner installed the intake of an older model but, when this bike wouldn't sell, he took that intake off and sold it seperately, placing the original one back in. When he put the original one back in, he placed the clamp that tightens the intake to the airbox upside down (so to speak), I then placed that clamp back in that same position when i refitted the intake from an older model, not knewing it was supposed to go the other way around.
That resulted in the throttle jamming into the clamp and limit the amound of throttle rotation..

ergo: no power

I took the whole thing apart in the dealer's driveway to put the clamp in the other way around and it now runs perfectly, got a whole afternoon of license-dangerous driving with a huge smile on my face..

Thanks everyone for all your efforts!! (and gregorious and redratbike: i will reset the tps somewhere in the next week thanks again!)

PS: got it on the dyno afterwards, resulting in a respectable 126,1 bhp on the rearwheel :doug
