Check the condition of the connectors - if they are corroded you have a risk of overheating and melting.
Mine are as new and i have put some battery grease into connectors every year to keep them in good nick.

Had done this mod on my bike & afew customers bikes afew years back & it worked well on my bike till the Yamaha starter Solenoid fused closed & made the bike turn over by its self for 6 minutes till I got the seat off & the + battery terminal , which inturned burnt all the earths to the frame earth point & the other wires in the loom that where beside them .... None of the main 30 amp fuses blow or the extra 30 amp fuse which showed a problem with this particular wiring mod ! I rewired all the damaged wiring but still had ongoing trouble so ended up taking out the whole wiring loom & replaced with another complete loom & rewired the reg/rec up a different way without the extra 30amp fuse or any of the extra wires as with the oringinal rec/reg modification did . End result bike charges at 14.2+V at idle & 13.9v at 4000rpm so as good if not better than doing the wiring modification & it is still uses the Factory frame earth point & retaines the 2 x 30 amp fuses . All I'll say is just be aware when changing Factory wiring to make more power to the battery . The brown plug is only supplying the power to the Reg/Rec & the other white plug is the 2 earths to the frame & the 2 power leads to the battery .
