Hi all,

Sadly my dad passed away last year, but in the process we're required to value some bikes, including a RSV 1000 R Nera.

Could someone point me in a direction to a company that might even know what this is (i.e limited edition etc)?

Hello. Very sorry to hear about your dad.

What you have there is a Aprilia RSV 1000 R FACTORY i believe. As for a valuation, take it to a dealer or take a punt at ebay. We can help you here but might need to know more details like; Age, milage, history?...

Hi,

It's deffo the Nera - Nera emblem on rear (seat cover?)

It's registered in 2005, we know it's part of a 200 limited edition run, but don't have the cert. We also only have 1 ignition key.
The are less than 1000 miles on the clock.

I've been in contact with a few dealers, but so far none have been able to give a solid price because not many are sold, http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1861113.htm is the closest we can find, but many more miles.

OK a 2 second google search comes up with this:

The RSV 1000 R Nera comes with carbon fibre body panels, magnesium wheels, full titanium exhaust, titanium nuts, bolts and fasteners (reducing the motorcycle's weight to 175kg). It is powered by an enhanced version of the 60° v-twin magnesium engine producing 104 kW (141.4 PS; 139.5 bhp) @ 10,000 rpm.[3] Only 200 RSV 1000 R Nera motorcycles were made.
Found here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aprilia_RSV_1000_R#RSV_1000_R_Nera

As for price, its worth whatever someone willing to pay for it. :)

Yup this is what I've been saying. And for the price they were released for, it's not much an improvement performance wise (I've been told) The limited edition would be the main draw I think.

I'm getting an average price of around 6-7 thousand, some are written some are verbal quotes.

yep that one on pistonheads has been up for quite a while..its a case of are you desperate to sell?

set a 10k reserve and throw it on ebay?

We need a valuation - not planning on selling just yet. Let's just say there's been disagreement about the potential price of the bike - I'm stuck in the middle :)

A valuation from a reputable company would be best - awaiting contact back from Aprilia themselves. We have example prices from past eBay auctions and that ad, but none have actually sold... which makes me more reserved.

If my knowledge serves me correct I believe that was a $25k bike brand new. I'd say with low mileage it should be worth somewhere between $14-18k to the right buyer (that's in USD btw). Personally, the Nera in my opinion is one of the sexiest bikes ever made! pricey when new, but used its a bargain

Paul,

If I remember correctly from last year when you asked on af1, you are from Whitby? If so take it to the aprilia dealer in Thirsk they will be able to value it. As said these kind of special edition bikes are worth what someone will pay, but when you look at a good condition gen 1 edwards could fetch £5-6k then you should be looking north of £10k.

Also when asking for the valuation make sure they know it's not a valuation for the sale of the bike, otherwise they are likely to value it low(thinking you might sell it to them).

just tell them you're looking for private sale value, and not dealership price and they should b fair

Why not try writing to a bike mag? As said, it's pretty rare, but it's worth what someone will pay. The original price was extortionate because you got all sorts of extras, including leathers, lid, a pit pass for the motogp, and a tour of the factory. Up for £15k at this car (mostly Porsche) dealershttp://www.specialistcarsltd.co.uk/item/527/catid/14

Parkers reckons about £6k http://www.parkers.co.uk/motorbikes/used-prices/Valuation.aspx?plate=83&deriv=6538

Has it got both fuel tanks, should have a carbon fibre one at the very least. Got any of the other bits a collector would want? I believe it came with its own stand too......

It would be nice to think it was an investment, but unfortunately it is just a bike worth a bit more than most bikes because of a few special bits. It's only valuable to people who know about it, it's not a race model, it wasn't ridden by any famous racers (although Matt Leblanc has/ had one).
