rolling front end

D

delmonk

hi guys newbie here and i need your expert help, just recently aquired an rsvr 91 only 11k but have noticed when riding slowly say between 20-40 the front end has a rolling action from side to side have changed tyre to no avail also checked head bearing adjuster riong for slack, could it be the wheel bearings?appreciate any feedback cheers:dunno

this might sound ridiculous but I've been in and out of the bus lanes since boris opened them up. Some of them are like ploughed fields where the buses run on the soft tarmac and can pull you all over the road and the rolling profile of some of them are difficult to see in some conditions. I'm assuming it's not that but just thougth I'd mention it.

yeh checked spacers was hoping it might be that think it could be more sinister

no what you mean its a mine field out there, all the road tax we pay should have best roads in europe

delmonk am in gateshead, you could ride to mine and i could have a look at it for you.

Welcome to the forum, I'm sure somebody will come up with the reason why. Are your brakes rubbing when this rolling motion starts? Is there any knocking noises. Get someone to hold the bars and give the front wheel a good tug in all directions, this will see if there is any play.

cheers mate thats very kind, have just put it back together gonna have another spin, part exed my tl for the rsvr after reading so many good write ups swapped bikes with my mate and he noticed it straight away got no confidence in front end, where abouts in gateshead are you buffalo

The rose joints are the pivots points at each end of the damper. Can sieze up giving a feeling similar to the damper wound right up.

Has it got any signs of oil seepage past the front fork seals?

My front end was vague and tram lined when you crossed uneven road surfaces and it turned out the oil levels where all to ****.

cheers buffalo gonna take steering damper off and go for spin,if its not that ill give you a ring

thanks spoonz took damper off went for spin bike seems fine wound damper out to softest setting definatley seems to be sticking
