This event is now being held on Friday 19th August 2011

Following on from my recent posts, the riders4research event originally planned for Thursday 18th August has now been moved to Friday 19th August 2011. The option to move the date became available & we felt the Friday may encourage more riders to want to take part. People will need to take less time of work to attend if travelling from a far & will have plenty of time to recover being the weekend will follow. Those already booked do not need to do anything, your future correspondence will show the new date, all you need to do is turn up on the right day!

Snetterton 300 circuit
3 groups. Novice, Intermediate & Advanced
Only £115 per rider

All profits raised from this event go to Cancer Research UK. To book your space click here:

Brief reason why:

6 years ago at the age of 24 I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer to my neck & nose. Had to endure a tough course of chemotherapy & radiotherapy which made me rather ill at the time & was a bit close to the dark side for my liking. As the consultant said, we have a problem & need to act fast, it’s all or nothing I’m afraid. At the time, getting out of bed was a struggle let alone the thought of throwing my leg over a bike again. Anyway 6 years later I’m still here, got a wonderful family behind me & am riding bikes again.

The hardest part for me over the last 6 years apart fighting this disease myself, was losing my mum on 30th November last year at the age of 56 after a 7 year battle with breast cancer. She was the bravest person I knew, unless you knew, you’d of never have guessed she was ill & she fought till the bitter end. I’d like to think she, along with my dad made me the man I am today.

I’ve been running riders4research events raising money for Cancer Research UK in the on & off-road world for the last few years, but for obvious reasons this year’s event means a little more to me. It’s something I organise by myself in my spare time for fun. Don’t make a penny out of it, it’s just my way of thanking & giving a little something back to those that helped me & tried to help my mum. It’s not going to change the world or find a cure for this awful disease but hopefully the money we raise can then go on to help others now & in the future.

Cheers, Robbo :thumbup

I'm booked onto this trackday along with some friends and travelling down from Northumberland.
First trackday on my new aprc so really looking forward to it!

Hi, I'm riding a White Rsv4 aprc and my mates are on another White rsv4( both with Austin racing exhausts ) KTM RC8R and a 2008 red Fireblade.
Do you know if there are any suspension guys attending on the day? Wouldn't mind someone helping me dial the suspension in for me

Thats a flash little ol' convoy you guys got going there.

I think Griff from Aprilia Performance will be there but I'm not sure weather its work or pleasure or both on the day. I'm sure he'd be up for a chat at the very least though :thumbup

As Rich said, Griff will be their but for pleasure riding himself but I'm sure he'd be happy to have a word or two! Failing that Easy Track do have their own suspension guy that attends their track days so I'm sure you'll get it sorted one way or another :devious

Yeah but as the saying goes " All the gear....but no idea! "
we'll be the ones wobbling around.... haha
Cant wait, fingers crossed for some good weather because its a bloody long way for us to come to sit in a pit garage watching puddles!

Fair do's GoingApe thats some distance you're coming. Got my journey licked by a good few miles, lol

Yep, a fair trek that, so if it does rain, I still expect to see you on track!

Can't predict the future dude but done my best by trying to pick a day smack bang in the middle of summer, if it ever arrives.

Afternoon, hope ya all good & keeping well.

Just over one week to go, whoop whoop, god I’m excited, never done or been to Snetty before & can’t wait.

Looking at the bookings, to make the day a real success for Cancer Research, we could do with another 35 riders. I know it’s a lot to ask at this late stage but if you’re thinking of booking in please do & if you know of anyone else away from the forum that may fancy it, please please please plug away for me.

Yes, camping at the circuit is available. It’s free of charge but you must be there by midnight.

Here’s to a great day. If you see me, ugly guy with Alpinestars leathers on a white Tuono, make sure you come say hi.

I’ll be back with a final update on numbers before next Friday.

Chow for now, Robbo.

Right,

After 8 years with my current employer I have handed my notice in today as I start a new venture running my own Media Agency next month. Not sure if they will be keeping me on to work my months notice period yet or not, if not I will lose access to a phone & laptop for the duration of this week.

So, if I don't appear on here again before Friday, here's to a great day for a great cause, thanks again for all your support, I couldn't have put this in place without you.

For those staying at the Breckland Lodge (or those planning on stopping off for a drink or two) I’ll see you Thursday night. For those camping at the circuit or arriving on the day I’ll see you at the track early doors Friday morning!

Robbo.

Afternoon people.

Need 120 riders in total to make the day worthwhile, at last check we have 109 so need 11 more riders from somewhere?

As mentioned before, plenty of track time for all, great track, great company, great cause. If waiting to see the weather forecast before booking is putting you off, don't let it http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/dayforecast.asp?zipcode=NR16 2JU&day=2

See you all Friday, whoop whoop. Robbo.

Well, what an absolutely fantastic day. I know changing the day from the Thursday to the Friday meant letting some people down but a blessing in disguise me thinks! Sun was shining all day, circuit was perfect, atmosphere electric, plenty of time on tack & not to many accidents.

Huge thanks to Marcus & the Easy Track crew, the event wouldn’t have been possible without you all. Meant to say this at the briefing but unusually for me, got stuck for words. Thanks to Stef & Claire of Tyres 4 Bikes for their donation & all those that partook in the raffle, hope the lucky winner enjoys their 3 free track days. The most important thanks though, goes to you guys, the riders as without out you it wouldn’t of happened. I tried to get around to say hello to all but proved tricky being everyone was out on track at different times. If I got to say hi, was a pleasure to meet you, if I didn’t, sorry but thanks so much for your support.

Not sure yet on the total amount raised as waiting for Marcus to finalise but from what I’ve heard, along with the raffle & other donations we shouldn’t be far off a £1000. Not bad for a day having fun clocking up the miles lap after lap eh!

Once again, thanks to all that got involved, hope you enjoyed. Until the next one. Robbo.

Hello mate, unfortunately I missed the track day that I was so looking forward to as I had a serious accident on my bike a few weeks before the date and I'm still in hospital now, my mates decided not to do it either due to my accident.
The bike has been written off by the insurance.... 3 weeks old and 700 miles on the clock.
I'm glad you guys had a great day and that it was dry, on the day of the track day I was having my 2nd 6 hour operation on my back so disappointed wasn't even the start of explaining how I felt.
Take it easy on those bikes guys ok
Sean

Oh Jesus thats awful news ! Still at least your still here eh ? I guess its upsetting to see the bike trashed but its only plastic and metal at the end of the day. Main thing is getting yourself sorted out. How you bearing up in hossy then ? will you be getting out any time soon ?

I'll be in hospital for months, I've broke my back in 2 places, broke all my ribs and punctured my lungs. Had it not been for the helicopter ambulance I wouldn't of made it.
I've had 2 major operations on my back to stabilise it but I'm now going to be confined to a wheel chair and finding it hard to come to terms with, along with my family.
I'm going to really miss the RSV4, I really loved that bike!
Didn't want to spoil your thread, just thought I'd explain why I missed the track day

Fookin hell mate,

I'm shocked & honestly lost for words. I did try & find you on the day to say hi but this will explain why I couldn't.

Fook the bike mate, all that matters is you. Stay strong & keep positive. I really am sorry to read the above & don't know what to say. I'm sure you & you're family will get through this very tough time.

Robbo.
