With the Aprilia riders having an extra day of tests at Phillip Island, it should be no surprise that they sit on the top of the leader board for testing lap times. This extra day has cause some ire from other team managers who state that Aprilia’s actions are pushing up the costs of testing for everyone else. We think that’s a cheap excuse for the fact that Shinya Nakano leads Regis Laconi, who is back with Ducati, and that Aprilia’s Max Biaggi is in a not-so-distant third. Biaggi finished the day on a bit of a low note, having a relatively low-speed fall towards the end of the day. We’ll have to wait for the other teams to start their testing on Saturday before we can see how the grid is stacking up.

The Supersport riders are also on track, with Anthony West looking in much better shape on a Honda Supersport machine than on the Kawasaki MotoGP bike. The Stiggy Motorsports rider leads his team mate Gianluca Vizziello, ahead of the Althea Honda pairing of Mark Aitchison and Matthieu Lagrive.

The current contingent of riders finish up on Wednesday, and will be replaced this weekend by the bulk of the factory teams, ready for the season opener on March 1st.

Aprilia RSV4

Oh yeah, you go Shinya and Max:thumbup The RSV4 is already a winner in my books just by having APRILIA on the tank:doug
No surprise to see Ant West do better on a Honda, everyone does better on anything other than a Kawasaki! Wonder how long before they get tired of being at the other end of the field in Superbikes and Supersport and end up gone as is in Moto GP?:nana

I think Max and Shinya will BOTH finish inside the top 8 at the end of the season too.:thumbup

That's my 2 bobs worth anyway.:nana
