Repairable Mille SP

Hi Torp, My office is in macc and i live about 20 mile away, will be going into work Monday so could pop in and have a gander for yer take some close up good piccys. Adey...

Got to agree with Dolenc.

If you want the bike as a collection/heritage piece, then take a punt, but you can get a 2008 Fireblade for sensible money.

It's the lightest of the 1000's already, and replacing the tail pipe/cat saves another huge chunk.

An RSV will never match a modern bike for performance, handling or reliability.

Kinda heart vs head. Do you want the best bike, or the most 'special' bike?

Hey Jon, what bike do you ride then?

A 2003 model Mille, not the R, sadly.

I needed some money so let my 2007 R6 go in April last year and bought the Mille. It earned me back about £2,000 but like a muppett I then spent about £500 of that straight back on the Mille.

The Mille has qualities that the 600 didn't, like torque for example, but I miss the handling of the Jap bike.
I had my R6 dyno'd and it was 116bhp. I had the Mille dyno'd as standard and it was 120.4bhp....

..but also 30kg heavier and with brick like aerodynamics.

Make the Mille 25kg lighter and I'd love it, but it just isn't sharp enough for a true sportsbike.

PS It's not standard anymore but I'll be lucky if I've gained anymore than 5- 7 bhp.

A promised some more piccys, went up there today on my bike fookin cold it was too.
Will pm the info fella.

if you really wanted it offer them £4,500 and see if they barter with you.....looks like its gone done pretty bad so it would be difficult to repair using genuine parts

Strip it, send the carbon to boyler for repair, clean / polish the metalwork up , repaint, good as new. Are they dents in the frame or not, i cant tell, that would decide it for me
And offer a low price like RSV says .

Argh  now that's worse than I expected.
Probably because they describe it as
"Light cosmetic damage on r/h side"
It's the frame damage that amazes me :eek:mg

CK- Yup so i think anyway, and there has been a sticky written by him recently about refinishing Carbon somewhere on here.

Torp is frame defo damaged?

yes there's a dent below the tank (and on the swingarm I think). I've asked Adey if he can describe the damage in detail. This is the thing that is putting me off at the moment....
As you say, fairings and tanks can be repaired but I doubt you can remove a frame dent....

I wouldn't touch it for that money. You can buy mint cherished examples for that price. The bike's worth £3500 at most

Speak to Motorliner in Maidstone, they do frame and swingarm repairs.

Agree with someone else - that's a whole lot of money for a bike which is in a poor state. Trouble is, the bloke who's selling knows it's worth more in bits, but I'd hazard a guess that the majority of SP owners never ride their bike much anyway, so never need the bits he's trying to sell.

And it will always be a Cat D :(

Out of interest - whys it got Brembo wheels on? Do they not come with Oz's on?

Nope not all of them, I think it was before OZ were commissioned to make lightweight wheels for the R models. And it has the 'basic' red brembo calipers. A lot of money for something not particularly trick (esp. at £23k new!)

Walk away buddy and let him break it,to many minus's and not enough plus's,whats so special about that swingin arm ??,it looks identical to my RSV-R :dunno
