Renegade Air Box Disaster.

D

danf1234

All was going well with fitting my new Renegade kit. Got everything on and was tightening it all up when I caught 1 the 2 pipes that go into the iair intake sensor and snapped 1 off at the inlet.

Gutted.

I tried to start the bike just holding the pipe against the broken inlet and it would start and rev with the throttle then just die.

Not wanting to knacker things even more I have retired the bike and bought a new sensor off ebay. Hopefully that's all that is wrong.

Heres the sensor.

I am well and truely pi55ed off now cos I don't have a bike all weekend, and I don't know if the air kit even works.

Is there anything that would stop the bike running after fitting one of these kits, or is the pressure sensor fairly fundamental in the operation on the engine??

I am just praying that it was only the sensor and nowt else. I really don't want to have to take everthing off to put the standard box on just to test all is ok?/

If it was running ok before you broke the sensor i'm pretty sure a new one will sort it :thumbup

Believe me I am praying, because this could be a very expensive fault finding exercise at Premier Bikes in Askern.

The thing that is niggling me is that I could get the bike to start, but it wouldn't run. That was with me holding the 2 broken ends together.

Mate, just ring Southern Cross if you have any concerns, you bought the kit off them didnt you, they will spend time on the phone with you and explain all you need to know, not that you had to buy the kit off them for them to help you, Don or Andy will get you sorted mate :thumbup:thumbup

Holding 2 ends together while starting the bike wont give you an air tight join mate, when the new bits come, put them on and ill bet all will be well :thumbup

Chill out M8, like Little1 says speak to the experts and stay away from those cowboys at Premier bikes :thumbup
It's going too rain today and tomorrow anyway so get some polishing done :biggrin

Interesting you say that about Premier bikes. I recently paid to have a full service at Premier Bikes, which included a new air filter and oil filter on the bike.

When I took the old air filter out to put the Renegade on it defo wasn't new. About 4000 miles old I would have said. Also I think they just topped up the oil rather than do a filter and oil change. Left me very suss about them????

Trouble is the service was before xmas just before I stopped riding for winter.

I might just do that.

First proirity is the get the bloody bike running again.
