Hi i want to remove the baffles from my akro cans, i have a 11 plate gen2 1000r... Ive heard many conflicting things like switching it to map 2 or dont have to switch it and airbox mod will help it run better or just something like a Bmc race filter would be suffice....any info will be appreciated, also this jargon of cutting the green wire and removing restrictor plate in the airbox ??

first off greetings and salutations
don't go cutting any wires as that's for gen 1, all you need to do is remove the baffles and enjoy. If the bike is running ok with the baffles in its probably on map 2 already, the airbox mod is simple to do and will help the bike breath a bit better.
PS, it always helps to do an introduction first - good luck

Hello and thanks for the info. Ill go ahead and remove the baffles and wait for some decent weather to see how she's running and thanks.

I have baffles in my Gianelli as it wakes the dead otherwise, not great for neebors at 6.30 in the morning.

ive never had baffles in my akro,s . baffles are for ***** !!:thumbup

I know some ***** can be easily baffled, but what ***** have akro's with baffles? I'm baffled too! :lol

Seriously, I have an aftermarket 40cm oval titanium can on my Gen 1 (made by Powertech Exhausts, Lancaster). Can't pluck up the courage to remove the baffle. It's slightly too quite for my liking with baffles in, but my old titanium can gave rear ache without any baffle. And its a fact repeat sound exposure above 80dBA causes hearing damage. Eh? Who said that :crazy

Which is definately a great point. Its always nice to know the local wildlife (muntjac deer, pheasants, etc - yep, even around the Midlands) are well aware of an oncoming bike well before it arrives, and much less likely to bolt out in front at the last moment. Not to mention half blind and deaf folks (who used to ride with baffleless ackras! ;) ) in cars/vans...

Which remind me of a YouTube clip taken via helmet cam of a London biker: Every time someone steps out in front of him he blips the throttle (of a throaty v-twin)... the panicked reactions of folks thinking their about to be run over is quite funny! Similarly, with startled car/van drivers in close proximity!

My Arrow cans have never had the baffles in and sounds supeeeeeerb, my neighbour actually likes the sound of me firing it up :lol

Full Akro on mine no baffles , don't even bother at mot time as I don't think it's that loud nor the tester, mates behind me seem to have a different opinion !

Same here, gen 2 with akros, no baffles and restrict or plate out, sounds sweet,
