I suspect it will only be a matter of time before I ditch the datatool alarm on the bike as its already doing my head in . I've removed a datatool alarm before(very slowly) but the previous owner mentioned that he thinks !! This one might be wired into the bikes immobiliser system .
Question-anyone taken a datatool 21 off recently ?

Nope, but it cant be that difficult. Just a matter of rejoining snipped wires. Did my MV and that was a *****.

It will be fine,....the datatool 21 is just an alarm and nowt to do with the bikes standard immobiliser system.
I removed one from a Ducati 916,....took about an hour.

I know they are a pain in the ****, but will it put your insurance up much when off?

It hasn't made a big diffence in the past , but I checked last night and was £90 extra !!! WTF . Not due for another 6 months
So looks like its staying on till next renewal !!! Waste of time really as I can't find installation certificate which i would guess insurance would want to see god forbid anything happens . Bloody alarms

Mine is still on the bike but all it does now is activate the LED.
I also rigged up an immobiliser, the insurance requirement is met.

I don't have a certificate for mine either, but think it was factory fitted, told the ins co this, and they are happy with that

I have a data tool alarm & apparently it is connected to both the immobiliser & also the starter motor & fuel pump. When I first had the bike I encountered many problems keying the ignition at the same time as mobilising the alarm which caused the management warning service lights to come on as the system had not had time to clear before I pressed the starter button which in turn then came up with a low voltage to starter motor code coming up in the diagnostics. I even had a new set of clocks under warranty as it took the dealer a while to figure ouit what was going on, they thought the clocks were faulty at first. So beware always make sure you mobilise the system whilst approaching the bike before putting the keys in the ignition.

Just checked mine is a Data tool s4 C1 Red

Quite handy reading this post, apparently I can Enter Winter Mode which will imobilise the bike & completely shut down the Data tool system so it doesn't drain the battery.
