Why does my rear wheel keep locking up on down shifts? I thought the rsv had a slipper cluch fitted:dunno, i had no problems last year and i was not bliping the gas.:dunno
I've just change the gearing to 15/43 could this be anything to do with it?

Its ok if i blip the gas on the down shifts.

By the way 15/43 what a big diference its like a supermoto on the accelirasion fcuking love it:roost:banana apart from the rear wheel lock up.

its probs the gearing yeah, it'll only lock up for a split second then release again, just have to keep on the blippin

It could be that the one way valve in the vacuum tube going to the clutch has failed ......if you can disconnect it, if you can blow through (ooh err) either end then its duff.

thanks kiwi any picks of where this pipe is?

Yeah Scott disconnect it and show us how you suck it lol

Tony

Its connected to the Clutch cover which is located on the right hand side of the bike, also worth checking that the diapraghm hasnt split.

Look at Tim with his technical advice posts. :thumbup

You been at those technical pills again Tim? :nana

Yeah Im starting to surprise myself

perhaps I should put a discalimer at the bottom of all posts that I dont hold responsibility for the users actions lol

Ps quiet on here tonight

One way check valve failure was quite common on pre 03.5 bikes. I bet half the bikes out there have a faulty one as the owners are unaware. As Areeessmille says locate and check the valve but note which way the arrow is pointing before you take it off. It a small plastic cylindrical canister about 2 inches long with a large vaccum pipe coming out of each end. It'll be located above the clutch on the right hand side ( as sat the bike ) of the engine. Remove both pipes and if you can blow through the valve both ways then the valve has failed. They are about £9.00 from Aprilia

cheers legs:thumbup:thumbup:thumbup took it out today and gave it a blow lol.

i could blow both ways but i gave it a tap and it seems ok now.:doug

while i had the tank up i thought i would change the spark plugs, simple job i thought but one of the bastard ht cap was solid on the plug.:rant:rant:rant
had to cut it off in the end, new set of them now.
looks like the plugs have never been change.
bit pissed of as i was going out for blat today, as it was a nice day, abit rare on isle of man this time of year :rant:rant.

thank you again:thumbup:thumbup

Excuse the (probably) stupid question, but if you hold the clutch IN with engine running in neutral and gently blip the throttle should you feel a slight "pulsing " at the lever?

I hope it just means the pneumatic thingy is working?

Ian

I occasionally notice a bit of a pulsing through the lever Ian, suppose it must be due to the vacuum system now you mention it. Managed to lock mine up last time I was on track - not sure if mine's not working or it's just a crap system. Another job to do.
