Rear shock

Hello,

I have just discovered my rear shock on my 99 bike is ******, big crack at the base. Has any one changed there's for another aftermarket part that won't break the bank? Does the newer rsvr shocks fit?
Any help would be great

Mine done exactly same thing. Took it off got welded at nearest fabricators. was fine , didnt even get picked up on mot.
Thats prob your cheapest option. All the later gen 1 shocks should go straight on. Good chance to check , grease linkage bearings when its stripped to.

Sorry dont, it was bout 4 yr ago on my 1st gen1 , but it was split in 2. Noticed there was hell of play in it. Got it off thinking it was bush.
Like u thought it was fukd.Took it to local welder cos its alloy , he managed to shape and close it in vice. The weld wasnt good looking but went another
2 yr with slight play cos it was slightly oval. But made no diff to bike.Unfortunately bike was written few yr ago so dont know if it would have been
permanent repair. But nothing venturered

You should never weld up anything like that, in my opinion that is!
