Hi,I have a 2004 RSVR Factory. Love it 99%.... I know there's plenty out there, but I think I have one of the worst! My old mechanic spent 3 hours on it, said it would be cool, lasted less than a month... I've got absolutely no back brake at all! Doesn't bother me normally, but due to circumstances, i'm having to ride thru' winter. This bothers me, as the front stopper is keen as mustard! PLEASE is there a way to truly resolve this issue? My new "best" mechanic says that's just the way they are! Thanks in anticipation.

Common problem I believe. Have you thought about Griff's rearsets? The master cylinder is relocated (as it gets a tad hot and boils). maybe a pricey solution but you get some sexy new rearsets! there are loads more cleverer chaps on here that will be able to offer further advice:thumbup

Blead the back brake holding caliper in your hand with it upside down (lets all air escape) until you get a relatively firm back brake. Then over night put something heavy (brick) in a plastic bag and hang it from your back brake lever and leave it on until you use bike again. back brake will be very firm. Don't ask me how. whenever i am not using my bike my back brake is always pressed down and front brake lever always pulled in, keeps air out. Just try it. You'll be thanking me.
Your mechanic is right mille back brakes are rubbish, most only use front brake because they're excellent. But I like my back brake working so I can cover it if the wheelies get out of hand.
