rear brake issues.

Hi Guys, I know this issue has been discussed over and over again and I have read through countless threads, some very useful and others not so.
I have a 52 plate Tuono fighter that I have had since 2003, Great bike! I have just had the slave clutch replaced everything was ok.. However went on a short bimble and thought it was handling like a real dog, got off the bike and the caliber was smoking! The rear pads had stuck on and the disc was blue WTF, released them and no brakes at all. My mechanic mate suggest that I have cooked the seals in the caliber, new seal kit needed.
Well to be honest I am fed up with the brakes (s/h caliber fitted 2 years ago and associated bleeding issues).
So without going to the expense of rear sets and vertical mounting, what other callipers and master cylinders will fit?
I understand that a number of Ducati rear brake units (calliper and master cylinder) will fit directly on,I am willing to give this a punt. Will a unit from a 996 for example be a direct replacement?
Thanks for all your help.

I've got Griffs r/sets on my gen 2, never had prob with rear brake as std but for just over £220ish "they are bloody good" and get slightly better brake and IMO a smooooother gear change. Vertical mounting is a must IOM
