Im fed up bleeding the dam thing every mot for it to last 2 hrs ... Cant modulate wheelies but i would rather not throw £300 for rearsets .

Has anyone tried using a right hand set from a different bike that has the brake lever already mounted in the correct position . Im sure there cant be to much difference in the spacing ... Maybe with a little machine work it can be made to fit . Just an idea before i probably end up buying some rearsets lol

I've only recently got a back brake, had to get a mechanic tae overhaul the caliper due to a stuck piston. Don't know what he did but it's still working after two months, thing is it passed it's mot while hardly working. The guy just said it's an Aprilia they all have ***** back brakes
 
Why spend a fortune on sorting this problem? I got a second hand M/cylinder off flea bay for £25 a Brembo unit from a Ducati 1098/848.
I went for an 11mm bore instead of 13mm so more pressure for your foot pressure and it just works, no bleeding every 2-3 weeks and that was 2,000miles ago. 2014-05-03 17.50.05.jpg this shows the finished job no difference apart from the outlet on the side(you can get these new with the outlet on the end for about £45 from Into Moto in Maidstone). 2014-05-03 19.48.44.jpg This is the problem, look at that O ring what do you recon that's doing, F..k all apart from letting air in! unbelievable!! do a search on AF1 for a guy, username BB1000 I think, robbed the idea from him, I also changed the pads to EBC organic and that helped too (more feel). Don't listen to the talk about engine heat, took the bike to Spain in June saw temp gauge reach 105c in traffic and the rear brake worked fine.
 
Poncho did you have any problems with the push rod? Seen on another forum the guy had to machine the boss on it?

I looked into fitting a 1098 master cyl.It basically bolts straight on,...but,...the brake hose has a right angle fitting and wont fit.You need a new hose with a straight fitting banjo.
The push rod from the pedal is too short.You can either make a new one from a long bolt,or I believe that a rod from a Gen1 or Mille can be made to fit.Part number AP8121222.

I never did fit the master cylinder and just flogged it on ebay.I never use the rear brake and just bleed it at MOT time.

Evening, About the push rod, all I did was take the fork off (where the clevis pin goes through) clamped an old drill in a vice (don't have a lathe) and used a file to remove the shoulder. it fouls the circlip with it in place and will not allow the rod to operate the piston.

Guess I'm lucky , rear brake works on mine, some do some don't, apparently

Using a syringe to bleed rear brakes seems to work more often than not though
 
Right another year (or is it two ? ) and im back on rearsets again .. I dont think there is any real fix other than using aftermarket rearsets . NOW seen a few posts saying you can you use v4 ones ... But they dont come up often . Now i see the chinese are finally making cheap rearsets for the 06> tuono (Danmoto Adjustable Rearsets Aprilia Tuono 1000 2006-2010 FR23 | eBay) I also noticed that they do aftermarket ones for the v4 cheaper than the v2 (can you see where this is going ? ) So although these are marked as race (may need a return spring and rear light switch) whats stopping me using these ? (Race Adjustable Rearset Rear Sets Aprilia Tuono1000 V4 R 2011 2012 2013 2014 BLK | eBay)

I have a lathe/pillar drill/grinders/belt sanders and a full workshop full of tools.. surely other than some fettling its a bolt on solution saving a few quid in the process?

I think it boils down to Brembo M/cyl are crap my KTM dirt bikes do the same front and rear but putting your knee on the caliper to push the Pistons back as there a sliding caliper then pull the leaver a few times hey presto they work until you leave it stood for a few weeks there all spongy again,I have a YZ 250 with Nissin brakes and it never has any problems,Brembo are supposed to be top notch but myself I think they have a factory in China :yes

You can file the ridge in the pushrod flush. I have a link to a guy in Holland that fitted the 1098 master the vids a walkthrough if folks wanna see it I will post link when I find it [emoji106]
