Hi all, have toyed with selling the RSV, where is a good place to get valuations?
Looking at parkers & wisebuyers, then checking MCN & biketrader, the classifieds all seem way over & above either of the valuations.
So I Am at a loss as to what mine is worth...

New guy on here just paid £1750 for an immaculate 02 - so basically who knows at the moment. Depends who wants it and how much they are prepared to pay (fairly obvious really, sorry)

What year, mileage, and overall condition?

Service history? Standard spec? Are you giving anything away to sweeten the offer? Garaged year round? Alarm? Tax? MOT?

All of the above will affect your bikes value, but on the flip side, what do you want to see back from the sale, are you clearing finance etc? this is the right time to sell a bike: Pre season etc.

It's an '02, FSH, 11k, new tyres, pretty good overall, but does need the nose painting.
Has an EVO chip and Laser titanium exhaust, but I may remove that and put it back to standard.
Think I'm well ott tbh!
Wanted to sell this and my car, to get a more commuter-friendly bike (probably IL4) and go without a car til winter to save cash, Mrs. has a car too anyway.
Buyers market it seems, but looking around at Fireblades, R1's etc, they seem to be the same price as a year ago!?

Commuter friendly.... ! Whats wrong with the Mille! I prefer my Mille for my every day wheels than my R1 any day! You can get away with almost anything on a Mille. Cant on a blade/R1....

I think the Mille is crap for dawdling along at 40-50mph personally. I've altered the gearing and it's still horrible, then it gets worse when you get into town!
It won't let me stick to a speed limit! At least with my old Blade I could sit in 4th / 5th gear with 3k on the counter and it would do it.
I dunno, maybe I haven't really got to know it yet, having done less than 2k miles on it since I got it. I could always go another way to work :dunno :jack

Get the front end sorted before you attempt to sell it. a prospective buyer will over estimate the repair and knock that off the value. As it is I'd estimate around £1800 for a std Mille and £2000+ for an R'.
with the front end sorted it won't look so neglected and will add even more value, so reckon on an extra £500.

This subject always grates the **** out of me...

ITS A 1000cc SUPERBIKE

It was never designed to dawdle... Jeez Buy an old Fazer/Bandit and quit slating the Mille for failing to do a job it was never designed for.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm perhaps i'll buy a Husaberg Supermoto for my next ride down through France :jack

:stupid

You could always have the best of both worlds.:dunno

Keep the RSV and get a commute bike like a Yamaha Diversion 600 or 900 etc.:thumbup

I'm Speaking from experience here.

Ooh, I've been told  :jack

You have your opinion, but plenty of other sportsbikes are fine for the same job. I never complained using my Blade for the same, hence bringing it up. I can't afford a ****** second naked bike to just use for work - when you factor in 2 x MOT, servicing and consumables etc etc. I have a car but as you probably do, prefer riding over driving where possible. I know it wasn't "meant" for commuting, but people do trackdays on supermotos and that don't grate the **** out of me.
Flick seems to enjoy commuting and I know others do, but for my route and distance to work, it doesn't really feel right.
I don't complain when out for fun, but there's more to owning a bike than being a **** for 2 hours on a dry Sunday morning.

All that is off topic anyway. Will probably get the paintwork done next payday, then sell it for a C90 for work, a BMW K for visiting relatives, and a works R1 for track days, keeps everyone off my case.:roll

Well if its any help Jayb, I have done a run to Brighton & one to Hastings , once into the town centre traffic my left wrist became rather painful with having to constantly slip the clutch , perform 50000 1st/2nd gear changes !! (But then my R1 was an absolute pain too).

However for not a lot of money you could probably make things much better by fitting a #40 oil jet and an MPL slave cylinder .

And as for 1000 cc superbikes not being designed to dawdle ....BOLLOCKS this is the UK everything has to dawdle .................its the law !!

**** me, you lot on crack..? If you want to go fast rotate your right hand. If not... don't. Its wicked as a commute, bars tuck under mirrors to ease filtering too... grip in the wet is BIBLICAL compared to MANY il4s.

What the **** are you talking about when you say you cannot ride at 40...!!??!

For ***** sake what complete goat cum is that all about... you should ride with AMB cos he is a expert at riding at 40.

It all depends on your daily journey I guess, the main road to work for me is a **** single carriageway "A" road, which is nearly a "B" - 50 limit, every **** does 38, THEN brakes for the fecking cameras, it takes the piss.
Half of it ends up being a crawl, so you have to overtake about a mile of cars with no ******* giving an inch of room for you to duck in.
I know what you all mean, no Sportsbike is meant to do 40, I was pissed off earlier, should maybe take the forum banter with a pinch of salt, but I am proper pissed off lately - plus we now have an £800 Vets' bill to deal with!:angry
Might just keep the bike and go the long way every day, tis the cheaper option - 2 bikes would be ideal but out of the question.
They should ban cars from rush hour, if you're too scared to ride a scooter or bike, get the bus or train! :pirate

PS, back on thread, are the RSV's on BikeTrader or MCN ever likely to achieve their asking prices?!

Jay

IMO

Rsv prices Vary on so many counts

Your always gonna win with a loved and cared for one especially if its someone thats done there research on them

Colour plays a big part, it can be the best one on the block but if it ain't the right colour
