Ordered a new WestCo battery YTX 14BS got delivered today but comparing it to the old battery it's about 1/2 inch bigger:dunno Just want to know if this is normal on the 14bs battery? Do i need to change the starter solenoid if this new battery fits?

Thanks
Matt

Mine was 12mm taller on my 2001 RSV1000R, fitted no problem.Just need to fit longer bolt in battery holding pate.:biggrin

I believe the battery is taller.

Don;t think you need change anything it just has more 'starting power' or cold cranking amps?

Cheers guys, i've just found the SEARCH button :doug so it's a :thumbup for the taller YTX14bs

Battery

by the way is the varta ytx14 any good

Varta are Good, Yuasa are also good (fitted as standard to most Jap Bikes).
I have in the past had good service from MDS battery.
I think I got my last one from Halfrauds (they had 10% off) and it was a Yuasa they now stock Bosch.
HTH.

I fitted the Varta back in November and the bike fires up first time every time. Can recommend it. It is a bit of a tight fit however as it's about 1cm taller than the original fitment but all makes of the same capacity are pretty much the same size.

If you have any doubts about your battery do yourself a big favour and buy one of these YTZ14S-BS
