Quick reply needed im in the garage

ok Just back from being in the garage the oil is now reading just over 3/4s so thats good put some more water in the exspansion tank and thats bang on the full line so thats good

run it to 100 degrees and still no fans checked the fuse and thats fine checked the connections and they both seem ok,

Any other ideas lads ? also to get rid of an air lock do you do the same as a car and let it run with the cap off?

both rads have a drain at the bottom mate. RSVR.net have a diff temp thingy to let the fans kick in even earlier.

Milleboy, i'm sure you know this but there is a correct procedure for checking the oil level. Due to the dry sump lubrication system you need to ride the for about 15 minutes, stop somewhere safe and flat, switch the engine off and immediately check the oil level in the sight tube.

Cheers lads

CK would the drains be the place to sort any air locks probs a silly question but has to be asked :biggrin

Also whats the correct procedure to get rid of any air in the system?

Cheers legs yeah the lad at the shop talked me through it so all was good bit of a strange way but i suppose theres all ways a good reason behind the madness

again thanks lads:thumbup

If you have an air pocket you could lean the bike as far as you can on one side, hold it there for a few seconds then do the same for the other side, you should be allright then, do this the radiator cap on and the bike running. At least that is what I would do, but frankly I dont think that a motorcycle cooling system would be so convoluted . As you said letting the bike run with no cap should be fine. On the other hand you could check the thermo switch for the fans = put the switch in water along with a thermometer, bring the water to temperature while having the two wires connected to an ohmmeter, at first the meter will read infinity then within a few degrees it will read continuity... look at the temp you will know at what temp the fans will start. No harm will be done to the switch and more importantly no harm to your engine. Hope it help.

Hi Drouin cheers for the advice ill have ago at that in abit

What ive also just remembered is when i was running the bike at a stand still with it reaching up to 100 degrees i noticed the both rads were still cold not even slightly warm is this normall?

Cheers lads

No it's not normal, i would suggest there is an air lock in the system Milleboy as Drouin suggests. you could drain the cooling system completely then refill
