ive not put no oil in since the crash bud but only did a max of 60 mile since i brought it and it had a fresh tank of oil

so we all saying splash a bit of the wet stuff in the exspansion tank and kick her over ?

Ill take a vid of the 1st moments!! fingers crossed

one more quick thing im still a newb aswe all know ive just gone to put the water in and noticed 2 different filling points one being the white expansion tank and the other being the cap a bit higher up which one shall i put the water in?

I would think the top one and that would fill the rads. The expansion tank should be filled to the level indicator with distilled water and antifreeze mix (50% each) but to be absolutely sure you should read the workshop manual that you can download from the forum file vault :thumbup

Cheers mate just before i was about to fill her up i double checked the exspansion tank and it was up to the max marker so i never put any extra in, or do i still need to put some in to fill the rest of the system, sorry to sound a *******,

Also fired her up and she ran like a dream but the temp guage on the clocks was climbing up every 2 seconds had the bike running for about 5 mins and it got to 99 degrees so i thought i best turn it off then once it was off it kepted climbing to 103 do you think its down to not putting no water in

Cheers

Chris

the fans never moved mate, any ideas ? ive got a couple of vids to put up but ill stick them in my rebuild thread,

Milleboy, be very carefull in running the bike too hot, make sure you've got the cooling system correctly filled as sprocker says, 50 / 50 mix. Double check the fan switch is connected correctly too. Again as Sprocker says, those fans should have cut in by then.

Have you got voltage to and from the fan relay ? if not check the fuses. Looking at the elecrical schematics once the thermal switch cuts in it completes the circuit enabling the relay to supply both fans :thumbup mine kick in at 93 c, just checked :biggrin

ill double check the connection i do remember when i fitted the new rad and fan that the connection had broke off on the clip part but it pushed on fine and i cant see it coming loose,

Should the engine get so hot so soon its been that long since i last started it up that i cant remember how it was,

Popping down halfords tommorow to grab some oil and some water coolant is there any particular oil and coolant or just grab anything?

Cheers lads

Chris

15w50 semi synthetic motorcycle oil Milleboy but Halford i doubt would stock it. You will also need motorcycle specific antifreeze. Have you drained the system? Did you loose coolant when the bike went down?

alright Legs i lost a bit of coolant as the right rad popped but from looking at the exspansion tank its still uo to the max line so maybe just lost a bit of pressurised water which looked more then it was,

any ideas on why it got so hot so fast i mean 5 mins to get to 100 degrees sounds a bit quick, its possibly low on oil dont know if that would affect it, or maybe i got a faulty temp guage? heres a quick vid of the clocks so ya can see how fast the guage goes up

A bike just sitting on tick over will heat up quick as you have no air flow to help cool the engine. Once you have checked the oil level and water take it for a ten minuite ride and see how it reacts. If it does shoot up over 100 then stop and let it cool before riding home.

That temp rising video looked pretty normal to me milleboy but the fans should have kicked in, have you checked the circuit out yet :dunno I'm just wondering if you have some sort of airlock, try opening the drain plug a little then top up the radiator level :dunno

And how big are you that bike looks tiny when your stood next to it

Haaa!! told ya i was a big youth imagine me on blade :biggrin

I just popped down the local bike shop where i got my mille from and brought some oil, bloody £11.65 for a litre  good stuff though but jesus, oh and some decent chain lube,

The lad at the shop said due to you putting a new rad on you might have an air lock (sprocker :thumbup) and to top it up with some more water,

so im gonna pop in the garage now and get to work will check the fan connection aswell, ill let ya know how i get on

Badger, cheers mate i think it was me just me being a fresh boy :thumbup
