Just washed the bike this week, and there seems to be some vertical 'play' in the steering damper (when looking from the front).

Should there be any at all? or should it ONLY move side to side?

One for the more experienced out there....!

Thanks in advance. :)

Do you mean where its mounted to ?. They do actually move about a bit in a couple of planes. If you put you hand on it and twist it does it move ???

Yeah it's on a bearing at both ends so a bit of movement is fine.

However i can't see it moving vertically or it means the mounting nut is missing.

Check again if it's actually MOVING or just able to move a bit on the bearing etc.

a think yer bikes ****** me old mate, ill gie ye 200 quid fir the lot and ahm really dain masel a bit wi that lol

Do you mean the unit rotates on the horizontal plane, it rolls a bit on it's mounting bolts, if this is the case I'm afraid Mr Sean is dead right yer bikes fecked, but don't sell him it he wants some 1200 or other. Anyway I'll give you £200.01 for it. lol:cheers

No but my eyes light up and I grin big time.

Okay, checked out the central bolt (which tightens vertically) and there's no more room for adjustment. Damper still 'wobbles' on the vertical plane, I'm guessing the only thing that will stop it, would be replacement or additional black rubber washers which are located above and below where the damper attaches. Either way, it seems to work fine, and when you grab it and wiggle it up and down, it only has a travel of approx 8-10mm.

Hmmm, will have to have a look at another Tuono which is in tip-top condition... are there any around? lol

leave it alone. :yes

It is perfectly normal for them to move like that they are mounted on rose joints to allow them to move through about 30° in that plane. :cheers
