Question for ya

Had a wee blast with my mate on his 04 Factory the other day before deciding that we would try each others bikes out. Considering my one is an 05 Factory you would think they were different bikes alltogether. His bike would rev so fast compared to mines and seemed to have a bit more midrange power, but was slow to turn into corners and bounced about like a mad thing.
The handling could be down to bad adjustment but not the engine. He's running a set of Tigs and a performance air filter element, and I'm running a set of Akras and air filter element. The question is would it just be the cans that cause his bike to rev faster than mine?

mate the turning into corners slow and bouncing about is due to the suspension set up look at the top of the forks and compare the rings on them depending on the lenght helps it turn in quicker !is there a weight difference between the pair of you? sounds like it is set up to soft..performance wise his might be set up better than yours with a dyno specific to his bike/ most people go to the dealer and get it changed to map 2 which is a factory setting he might have is tweeked! the other thing is it is a different ride so everybodys bike always feels smoother and a bit better cause you know your bike and every like knock and sound that comes from it:biggrin

Both on map 2 mate. You were right about the forks. I have 4 rings showing above the top yoke, he has 3. It is easy enough to move the forks up?

Would have to check but if we sit side by side in the same gear, the rev counter reads the same. As I say its just a bit weird. He has about 1500miles extra on his, but i dont think my engine needs to loosen up any. Its been thrashed just a wee bit.

yours will turn in quicker ,yes undo all yoke pinch bolts(don't 4 get clip on bolts/don't need to undo little bolt underneath don't do them to loose as it will drop quickly and might catch a few things and drop right down easy job but take it easy:biggrin:thumbup
or like mark says could have been a friday day :lol

If you are both just running air filters, i would suggest doing an airbox mod like a renegade or evo or IMO a homer ewe one is better (i have on mine), this will help the bike to breathe better.

My money would be on the gearing, if you bought both bikes second hand you will not know this unless you check the sprockets, the front is the first one most peeps change, take the cover off and count the teeth, standard for both bikes is 16/40

Hello there fellow NE biker chap

Did Shirlaws do the map switch for you? I have Promotive cans on using the std map and it running, shall we say, poop at low revs/town speed, stalls when cold etc.

How do. I got shirlaws to change it to map 2. They did it while doing some warranty work for me. The cost, a tray of cakes from Costco. Get your bike booked in mate as soon as you can.
I take it your from Aberdoom then? I've seen your bike a few times. Give me a shout if you need anything.
