thank you to all who have advised me and have helped me thru my struggle...

Well, most of us on here are over in the UK so pricing structures, tax etc would be different to you guys in the US.

I'm pretty sure the bargaining speal is the same though, so do some homework on what discounts other Aprilia retail dealerships are doing. You should be able to get a reasonable discount on list price for last year's 2007 model. Brand new 2007 RSVR 1000's here in the UK are selling for around £6995 new which is a saving of £2000 on retail list price. I'm not sure whether the dealer margins are the same in the US but you should be able to get a reasonable discount on the 2007 models that are left in the showrooms. I doubt they'll be discounting the new 2008 models as yet. You could also try and get a decent set of exhaust cans ( Akrapovic, Arrow, Leo Vince ) thrown in or maybe the frist 600 mile servce which includes a valve clearance check.

Good luck

Doc, are you saying you have seen an offer which includes next 2 services free? Does that include parts? If so I would suggest thats a good offer mate. These puppies aint the cheapest to get serviced at a dealers.:thumbup

If you go for the full exhaust, go for the Akrapovic system, posibly 2-2.

If you are just getting then can it doesnt matter that much there pretty much the same. I like the LeoVince can the most, thats why I have it :D

If you dont mind me asking, why leo vince?

Looks and sound, thats the only reason :) and in my opinion next to Akrapovic, comes leovince in build quality and also its not that expensive.

All the aftermarket cans weight around 3kg, compare to stock 8kg, and they all supposably give 3-5hp, so its realy up to the looks :D

sorry about my long absence guys...many life changes including a 15 wk old son...long, long ago i was 2 inches from pulling the trigger on a deal but alas the dealership would not budge (regardless of the tough economic times...) so it did not feel exactly "perfect" for me to purchase...:dunno
so i walked away from the deal...
later, when i just could not take it any more and also that my son was born, i realized that i needed to slow down...and an italian ape might not be uber-wise (knowing that i will have numerous stints of wanting to go 130+mph....so after some careful thinking and research and riding, i settled on a naked bike...a triumph s3...and what smiles it brings to my face :doug ...for me this was a GREAT decision...it has gobs of power...looks cool :thumbup :thumbup ...rare (at least in my neck of the woods) and with all that wind - slows me down quite a bit....

i write this b/c i wanted to close this chapter...strangely i got an email that someone responded to this thread after i started it so long ago....anyway, thank you for all of your replies

peace :nana

doc

Hey Doc.
Congratulations on the birth of your son.
So you didn't buy an Ape but at least you got something else with character.
Happy biking:thumbup
