Puncture Repair Gunge - OK to Leave?

Guys
Got a puncture last night and was recovered home by the AA. When I checked the tyre this AM, I found a semicircular piece of metal that had penetrated into the centre of the tyre tread by about 5mm.
2/3 of a tin of tyre gunge seems to have done the job but I have a long trip to Cornwall tomorrow and then up to Chester the following week. Not having used this stuff before, my question is whether this stuff is safe to use as a permanent fix or (as it says on the tin) should I get a proper repair done asap. Anyone got any real time exerience with this stuff in the long-term? Sod's Law says that the tyre has all of 150 miles on it.

If it's not damaged the actual carcass of the tyre too much and you used decent tyre sealant then you'll be fine mate.

Get it assessed by a tyre specialist at the earliest opportunity and see if they can effect a permanent repair on it.

get it checked out mate.

It may be ok but is it worth chucking your pink body down the cornish roads at high speed (as lets face it, you won't ride it slowly!!!!:thumbup)

Good luck.

Tyre sealant is really not a permanent repair, it's more of a get me home. Get it checked and repaired properly

Used it once to get me home and did the trick. However it is not a permanent fix and will ruin your wheel if you leave it in, depending on which tyre weld you used.

No way I'd run the distances your doing knowing hlthat there is a hole In my tyre. Get it repaired properly and clean all the crap out whilst it's being done:dowhat
