pulls to the right!

Just bought an 03 rsv-r off a mate, having only done a short test ride.
Got the bike delivered to the shop for its big service/mot and to fit some tyres off another mates race bike that have done a couple of race, still plenty of meat on them.
I was shocked when I returned to the shop for the bike to have failed because it is pulling to the right with hands off the bars. You have to really weight the left peg to keep going straight.
The shop started talking about bent forks/yokes and all sorts. My question is is it possible for the tyres to make it do that,as my mate says he has never noticed it before.
The tyres do look slightly more worn on the right as I guess all track tyres will be!???

Hi mate

Worn tyres will usually be evident when you start to tip it in, not in a straight line.

Sounds like forks etc, however a quick check to see that the top of the fork tubes are the same distance from the top of yokes on either side. I know that a few mm difference here can give you that feeling.

Otherwise try someone in the know, plenty of great guys here to offer more.

Cheers Pete :thumbup

If the forks were misaligned you would not be able to get the front spindle in.
Since when does an MOT involve a test ride?????
Sounds to me that the garage is taking you for a bit of a ride TBO!!!
I would recommend getting the bike home and stripping the front end down. Will only take about an hour and if there is a problem you should be able to notice it straight away>

Is this the result of a rolling road test? I find it a little disturbing that they ride your bike with no hands on the bars lol!! Could be a number of things but I'm no expert, may be worth checking your brake calipers aren't fouling the disk and there's no cables fouling the forks or bars. I would reckon either of those would pull the handlebars off centre when you let go.

I remember reading something years ago that if a mot tester wishes to test ride a bike, they are entitled to.

Never had it happen to any of my bikes though.

He said service/mot so might be tested post service.

Not all garages have mot status and ride the bike to the nearest testing station.
The mechanic may have felt a pull and let go of the bars as a test.

Yes it was a part of the service setting up the throttle but he said he wouldn't pass the mot with the bike behaving as it was. Great replys guys I will check everything you have sugested. Any more?

could just be the forks are twisted in the yokes, happen to my old zx6r, after a drop, as the bars hit the ground it twisted the forks, simply slacken yokes and tighen again.
