Problem following new fuel filter replacement.

Hello guys

Today i removed my throttle bodies to have a look at the injectors and fuel tank for a closer inspection of the the pump and filter.

When i had the throttle bodies off i removed the right side injector to see how clean the inside fuel channels were, all appeared clear with no debris so boxed it back up.

On removing the pump i noticed that the pipe from the pump to the filter was slightly loose on the filter side. I've been having a backfiring issue lately that i have been unable to resolve and thought this might have had something to do with it.

I removed the filter to check how clear it was and found a slight bit of resistance when blowing through it so thought it best to replace it since having the pump out. I checked the stariner also which was free of debris and in good condition.

After i boxed the bike up i went for a start but the bike refuses to stay running. When it did start it was running on the rear cylinder only but eventually got it running on the front cylinder too but was far from right.

I noticed that it would only really start if i primed the pump a few times before going for a start, once it fired up it just wanted to stall and would not rev what so ever. With the throttle fully open it would struggle to reach 4k-5k and sounded terrible.

I have no idea what could be causing this as everything i took off was put back together. All vacuum pipes and electrical connections are in place, i even took the pump back out of the tank to make sure i hadn't left anything loose but all appeared ok.

Any ideas what would cause the bike to start when primed several times then bog out and want to stall?

Its one thing after the next with this bike, it will be happy days once i get it all sorted.
Cheers

desynced cylinders? have you connected the injector cables to the right ports? front->fronat and back->back ? anyway what pipe goes from pump to airbox?? or what filter do you mean? fuel filter?

Yeh its the fuel filter inside the tank that had the loose hose coming from the fuel pump, this pipe was put back on with a jubilee clip rather that the original style clip. As for the injector leads, ive already tried that that. You can not really mix them up as the left hand side lead is not long enough to route round to the right hand side injector. In my original message i dont mention a pipe going from the pump to the airbox, not sure what you mean by that? The bypass screws were untouched so i doubt that has anything to do with it.

Last night i went back out and removed a front spark plug and turned the engine over, there was no fuel being ejected from the cylinder. I was thinking there was some kind of airlock in the system? Have you heard of this before on these bikes?

so maybe only air in the fuel system? i am only guessing. call griff (fusebox) seems to be the universal answer here in such cases :)

What was the end result mate?

Hi, The end result of all my running problems was a sheared woodruff between the crankshaft and flywheel. This caused the timing to be well out of spec resulting in poor poor performance, back fires etc. It took ages to diagnose but once sorted the bike was running like a dream. I've since sold the RSV but missing it to be honest. I'm tempted in purchasing a Tuono next time round.
