Power Commander Tuono / RSV different part number?

C

crasher76

without thinking i bid and won a PC III for a Tuono 03-05, thinking it would fit my RSV Mille 2002 (same engine etc) Looking on PC website the part number is different as is the RSV-R.

Any ideas why there are 3 different part numbers for the same engine / chassis?

I will probably plug it in and hope for the best...

if the connections are the same your alright mate its the map on it that will give it a different part number i think

just make sure the connections are right for the ecu

have a 2002 mille (not R) and My pc3 ordered from aprilia.me has also tuono 2005 sticker. not a major problem as it will be setup when it goes to the dynoroom...

Great if you don't think !!
Life is so much easier.

It will work just fine.

Where did you get it?

I agree, thinking is a major problem in my life! The only reason i ask is the FAQ on the powercommander website mention maps for different models / manufacturers cannot be downloaded on to the PC.

I got it on ebay for £100 + £10postage, which is pretty reasonable.

Once you get it, you plug it into the pc, using a battery adapter, then go to the pc website, and download the map directly into the unit. then plug it back into the bike and job is done.

Good luck, you won't look back.

I've got a Tuono Racing but bought a used PC3 for a Mille. No problem though as I was getting it mapped anyway! :thumbup

Yo Beanie, whats a battery adapter ? Iv'e done exactly the same as Crasher76. Can I connect the wire tap and then download the new map before I connect the injectors ?

Hi, it is a 9v aux power supply that plugs into the big plug on the pc3. I did this before installing on the bike to check it took a rsv map ok rather then waste my time fitting! I also updated the firmware and managed to crash it until i reloaded everything - glad it wasn't on the bike when i did that!
the tuono / rsv install instructions are slightly different - something to do with the trace wire being a different colour.

Hi Crasher,

Do you mean the 9 pin plug on the back of the pc3 ? How much do the 9v adapter's cost do you know? and what do you mean about the wires being different colours on the Tuno. Soz for all the questions but I know bugger all about this type of thing lol.

Cheers

hes not lying he doesnt if i plug the wires in wrong i might be able to keep up:nana

no worries! i think you can buy it for about a tenner, look on Pc website. If you go to the yank website powercommander.com you can download pdf installation instruction for both Tuono and RSV, It may have been a typo but the tuono has a grey wire with orange trace and the rsv has an orange wire with grey trace (or vice versa) you can also download all maps in one hit from the yank website (it has maps for european supplied bikes) choose the map that meets your spec closest.

I wouldn't worry my PC had a sticker with part nos for all aprilias the PC works on Futura, Falco, tuono etc.

Cheers Crasher.

Did you get all that Camngetit, apparently I need a falangy and my whirly valve will boost the turbo isolator ?? Anyay you couldn't keep up if you blindfolded me lol .

once i have bypassed your fufu valve and put a bolt in the giggling pin the roundy roundy uppy downy things wont go as fast and a parrot on pedal bike will over take you let alone me lol

Ha Ha Ha.

How much is the Dr Rossi chip and what doe's it do

doesn't matter which chip you have in cos the powercommander overwrites it anyway. just use the standard chip. if you do the battery thing make sure you use a brand new good quality battery otherwise it won't work. (pp3 square battery)
i didn't bother with the battery. you only need to start the bike and leave it ticking over to install a new map. you need to run the engine though, it won't work with just the ignition on.

Not true , the power commander does'nt override the chip !!

Tell em Kiwi !
With a PC you can easily adjust the injector timing thus the amound of fuel but not the ignition timing.
With the Tuning Link software it's nice to get a good ATF in 30 minutes but there's more to it than the eye can see !!
I don't know much people with a PC III Usb with a seperate map for cyl 1 and 2.
The just stick the lambda in the exhaust and pray it's ok.
Believe me there is a lot of difference between the workload of the cylinders.

So whats my way forward then Gentlemen. I've bought a PC3, have a straight through stubby can, K&N filter's and Iridium plugs. Not looked at the chip yet. Which chip is best / most effective. :dunno
