Potential RSV noob here

Howdy all,

New to the site.

I recently sold my lightly modified ZX10R and am looking for a replacement. I have a buddy with an '07 RSV100R that I may want to purchase. I know the RSV will be down on power and top speed, I can live with that. I do alot of 2up riding with my wife and the 10R power was nice. What are differences in the '07 & the '07.5 Does the "Factory" version have any more power than the others or is it just upgraded suspensions and such? How does the lower end torque of the V-twin compare to the big I-4?

Just the upgraded parts, same engines. Have you had a go on your mates rsv ? A whole different kettle of fish if you know what I mean......in a nice way you'll then realise what all these guys love about big V-twin ownership is all about

If your mate will let you take your missis out on the rsv, took my lass on the back and her legs were killing her after about halve a hour and she was moaning of pins and needles in her feet, but at least I don't have to extra ballast of a pillion to slow me down now.

rad748.. not sure what a ballast of a pillion is, at least its not slowing you down now though.???

Heres the bike, I know how we all are concerning pix on these forums.

i used to take my older son on the back ov my old bike hes 12 stone i soon knew he was there but when i got my mille "wow" what the fook still pulled like a train .the wife loves the mille makes her wet every time what more can you ask for lol

It depends how you ride as to how much you'll notice the power change....keep a V-twin above 3,000 revs and its all good...my wife was 9st when she was pillion on my last 04 RSV and it was noticeable but not that much...switched to a K7 Gsxr1000 and whilst its power was up for the pillion its handling wasn't...went really light at the front....so now back to an 05 RSV that hasn't a pillion seat anyway.
From talking to the wife she prefers how V-twins roll the power in linearly rather than I-4's which just tend to be nothing-nothing then bam....she knows straight away if i'm pushing on with a v-twin.....4's just give her no warning during overtakes etc....well except for a BUSA or such which just spoil you anyway as they do anything in 6th.

I think I have pretty much decided on purchasing the RSV. I have done nothing but read and compare reviews on the RSV vs. other litre bikes this past week. Where do the Tigcraft slip on exhaust rate compared the the more common aftermarket pipes I have seen? One other thing I have noticed on this bike that I have not seen on others. The red color on the fairing runs all the way up to the gray/black straight line. No lions head silhouette anywhere to be seen. This is an "R" model but current owner did upgrade rear mono shock to an Ohlins unit. From everything I have seen price wise for sale $8,500.00 US dollars (5,100 Brtballpark i guess)seems to be a fair price for 2762 miles on the clock. Any responses are appreciated.

Ask if it had any battery issues. I've seen a lot of people saying that these bikes reset the miles every now and then to 0.

Sound pretty good to me mike check the lock stops just under the bars to see if they are marked it'll let you know if its been in a crash as your a bit worried about the paint work but i have seen bikes wi this paintwork before, i think you'll love the low down grunt of a v compared to your zed 10 and you won't have to change gears as much to wot age was your zed ive had a shot on a few and find the ape suits bigger guys more.......

Sounds like replica plastics...look on the inside of the main side panels for heavy foil heat shielding....speedo mileage issues only effected the 04' models and the easy way to tell the 04/05 from the 06/09 is that the side panels on the later models where 2 piece compared to the earlier 1 piece.
If its an 06 or later model with that mileage its a good price and the ohlins shock is a nice touch....give all the pegs , exhausts and hangers a good inspection for any scuff marks...when these things go down the exhausts and gear / brake pegs get a good grinding.
