Points on licence and insurance

Got my insurance this year with Swinton Bikes , 13yrs NCB , no convictions or points £85 fully comp , i just ******** them with my lowest quote ive had routine and sometimes it works , sometimes they just say f##k off
I was with them last yr and the quote they sent through the post said £210 , bollocks to that so i beat em down !

That's good mate. But seeing as I've only 3 yrs no claims and 3 yrs riding experience 150 quid fully comp ain't bad then is it

No mate , that sounds a good deal , i think you need 3 yrs no claims before you start getting a decent discount anyway , i would tell em youve had a quote for £140 and see if they would match it , dont ask , you dont get !

I dont think thats a bad price at all, did you have to declare limited mileage for that

I found something interesting out this year, asked them what it would cost for me to to 15,000 miles instead of 5000. reply was £15 more ???
How does that work out

Extra 10,000 miles for £15 = 0.0015p per mile , only worked that out as i had the calculator in my hand , err i mean i worked it out in me head !

Back in '99 I got done for 58 in a 30 on my bike. Got 6 points and £200 fine. When I renewed my car insurance I told the insurers and they said no problem, no extra premium. Told my bike insurers on renewal and they wanted an extra £60 for the points. I went elsewhere, ended up with the same insurers (through a different broker) for the same premium.

Motor insurance is a law unto itself.

I got stung this year, not for points but for a claim against me.

Changed from Carole Nash to MCE as Carole Nash wanted twice the amount for swopping from my RSVR to the Tuono. Asked why & their response was no experience on the bike. Explained I'd been with them 7 years, had never made a claim & highlighted the fact the RSVR was the same bike with fairings so more expensive to repair if owt went wrong. Fell on deaf ears & they were prepared to let a valued customer go even though I'd told them about cheaper quotes.

Anyway went with MCE at £200 fully comp. Got a quote on 29th December after picking the bike up. Wife reversed the car into a parked car outside my house on 1st January (was illegally parked on yellow lines behind an 8ft hedge but won't go into that). Rang MCE to take the policy on 3rd January after payday. Asked for a reference number, gave me the price & paid their & then. 1 week later got a letter stating I had not disclosed a recent claim & needed to pay another £150. Turns out that Admiral had registered the claim & even though my wife driving in a car, the joint policy in my name has affected the bike insurance. Admiral made me take full responsibility for the bump even though the other car was illegally parked (police matter apparently, bet if I was claiming for my car being stolen & it was illegally parked they'd have a clause to get out of paying out).

MCE refused to refund the £200 I’d already paid so was out of pocket & held by the short & curlys to pay the extra £150. Explained that when I rang to take the policy no one asked me to check any details. They said not a problem if we can get the quote date shown before the actual purchase date (which was before the accident) they could do something about it. Guess what, apparently the quote date had been overwritten with the purchase date so no previous contact history shown.

Moral of the story, tell them cos if you need to make a claim at any stage & they dig deep & find out you've hidden from them they will not pay out & your policy will be null & void. Damn fooking country has got you from every angle. Makes me laugh when you see statistics for non insured, MOT'd & taxed vehicles - they wonder why!

Strange my insurance company said car and bike insurance are different and if you have a crash in one it doesn't affect the other.

Yes I will tell them. Just realised my mot is up in a few weeks as well so will have to get that sorted as well. Bloody bikes huh

My renewal was waiting for me today when I got home. £29 more expensive with 1yr NCB as opposed to 0yr NCB. Arse! Did a gocompare and it was the cheapest around. In fact ebike quote was the worst @ £445!!
