Right I've got to renew my insurance for my bike. I had 3 point on my licence 4 and half years ago. E bike have quoted me a stupid figure for renewal.

Do I declare my points which I had as theoretically they're off my licence after 3 years or do I say I have no convictions as I've heard they're valid for insurance company purposes for 5 years

Isn't the q normally 'have you had any claims/convictions in the last 5 years'. So legally I suppose your obliged to tell them?

How much is a stupid figure then? Mine last year was £160 with zero no claims - oh I'm 41 & don't have any claims/convictions.

Tell them they can probably find out anyway and it may come back and bite you on the arse if anything happens

They want summat like £375 for a year. I can get it cheaper though. Just need to know the exact date I got my points. Even by declaring them the best deal I can get is £151 which is half as much as I'm being quoted. i think e bike can go take a run and jump this year.

A friend of mine did that, took out insurance his points ran out in half a year didn't tell them, renewed twice he had a crash found out he was insured with them under false pretences 3 years ago and refused his claim until he paid the difference.

It's upto you but if they find out and cancel your insurance you will have to declare you been refused insurance and why, and if you need to claim and they refuse (which they have every right to) you are royally screwed.

Well I've put I have 3 points in and the cheapest quote on deal of the day is still £157 which is a lot cheaper than ebike. Think I'll go with them. I don't think thats a bad deal to be honest.

Seems pretty good. You have any no claims? I was chuffed with my price of £160. Hoping it might be even cheaper after 1 yr NCB - mines up next month.

Bloody hell i've got 2yrs but got some quotes to test the water with 3yrs ncb anf FC was coming back as over £600, i'm 31 too.

What's "deal of the day" web page?

I dont think they take much notice of fixed penalty speeding fines these days as they are such common place.
Well thats what someone at MCE told me, Its just the ones that go to court that really count, although i may be wrong.

I got my insurance down to about £120 this year with MCE , compared to bennets who wanted £297 for the same bike with no convictions and chucked in euro cover too.

just got mine done with bennets £66, age 34 full no claims

**** me thats cheap, do you keep it locked up in fort knox surrounded by a lecky fence with king kong sleeping with it under his arm.
is that fully comp ?

3rd party fire and theft, datatool alarm and garaged, think it might be to do with where I live, small town etc etc

Yep,any points on your licence for 5 yrs with Ebike.I have 12 points on my licence, but only 6 in the eyes of the law.I'm insured with them as they were the cheapest by far.
50yr old, rural location,9 yrs ncb and (ahem!) 12points.£240 fully comp, for the T plus the Triumph and Beeza.
Quite happy with that.

its awe doon tae the offence code , ahv had a few SP30s (basic speedin) ower the years an thiv never been a burden tae ma premiums so far.

reckon yer best tae declare tho cos if ye ever need tae call oan yer insurance in earnest it could be reason fur them tae decline yer claim. Particularly in these times o hardnose insurers.

Jesus time does fly. I has them in October 2006. They'll haunt me for another 6 months. Ps I was having quotes 3rd party for 50 quid but I'd never insure a bike for just third party. If it's written off ure throwing potentially thousands away. I'll update my details with the date I had my points and let u all know the cheapest.

I tried the bike insurer this time and got fully comp through mce with breakdown and euro cover for £40 less than my bennetts renewal for basic third party fire and theft!
