Hi Guys and Girls,
I have just become the proud new owner of a 2002 Haga Rep RSV-R, without a doubt the best bike I have owned in the 14 years I have been riding.
Can somebody please advise me on how to correctly check the oil level on these machines, I've never had a bike with a dry sump engine before.
Also if anyone could advise me on suspension settings for a 12 stone fast road rider I would be very grateful.
Thanks in advance,
Billy

Welcmre billy they are awesome .let her run for about 5 minutes or take her for a 5 or ten miute ride .on the left hand side u will find the oil tube and with it off. set her strait up and it should be half way up on the tube or three quater is fine. no more then the three qauter mark you do not want it all the way.d

Welcome mate. As D said - check it hot (some even say hot and ticking over!) and upright on a paddock stand or similar. Don't be alarmed if you can't see any in the tube when it's cold. Put too much in and it'll vent into the airbox.
Best bet is to check it when you come back from a ride - not always easy to see in the tube so you might have to whip the side panel off - good excuse for investing in some sexy dzus fastners!

Where the carbon infill is on the side panel, there is one angle that you can see the tube from.

Guys, the correct way to check the oil level as instructed by aprilia, is to ride the bike for at least 20 minutes or so, stop somewhere safe and flat, switch OFF the engine and immediately check the level in the sight tube. It should be no more than 2/3 rds the way up

sorry for jumping in the thread but it is related i changed the oil on my mate rsvr 2002 on sat first time with dry sump . manual says 4.3 litres so we started putting oil in got to the max mark so started up and it dropped got it warm and put in a bit more ended up putting in 3.5 litres was abit concerned but looked at what we took out and it was about 3.5 litres . anyone tell me why did the filter as well

Thanks for your help there and thanks for making me feel welcome.
The oil level turned out to be fine but I've sent her off for a service today anyway. Just looking forward to some decent weather now!!!

There are 2 oil drain plugs, so i guess you only undid one? There''ll still be half a litre or so of oil left in the oil tank

Glad I saw this post.

The level on mine is half way to full with the engine cold:exclamation

Did think it was a bit oily in the airbox when I looked in there, wasn't too concerned 'cos I'd read they vent a bit anyway.

Looks like it may have been treated like a wet sump system by the previous owner ?

Thanks for all the info fellas, keep it coming :thumbup
