im thinking of getting this bike, it a 2002, can anyone advise if the paint is orignal? i guess the decals could have been put of after but is the plain matt black a standard colour for 2002 models?

cheers, mickyboy

It looks re-paint it to me which might or might not hide something happened to the bike. Ask whether the bike has been crashed or dropped, and of course repaint it. You could also check the HPI history for the original colour. Good luck

No its not a respray it is in the original colours Nori Haga replica it should be an 01-02 model in matt black same as mine

To me, from looking at the photo, it looks to be original paint but the owner has has removed all the genuine factory fit decals.

Have a look closely at the paintwork, it'll be pretty obvious if a bike has been painted. The original Aprilia paintwork should be faultless.

I reckon if there is any decals missing it is from around the headlight if you look closely at the paint work you should be able to see a difference in the paint work

cool, im gonna have a closer look tmz morning, recon if its good il get it.

its got 12000 miles on it, n i have been told by local dealer the service scedule is on a big service then small service every 4500 miles, im unsure what one comes first but on there advice the next service will be due in 1500 miles (or a few weeks is its sunny :) )

is there a link or previous posts regarding the servicing on the pre 2003 models, and avarage prices would be good.

£150 for a 4500 miles service and £300 for 9000 mile service with valve clearance check. So next one should be a small one but check with the owner that the 9000 miles service has been done

Check the bikes starts ok, i.e there are no nastly mechanical ratling sounds on start up ( sprag clutch ). Check the frame behind the gear lever and rear brake lever, any marks on the frame there and the bikes been down the road and would be considered a write off in the event of an insurance claim. Also check the swingarm behind the exhaust can, again dents on the swingarm would indicate previous crash damage. Check the clocks are fully functional too as they are expensive to repalce if faulty. Other than that it's all about condition of the bike. Mille's are built to a very high standard and stand the test of time well. If it looks a bit ropey walk away there are plenty of mint cherished bikes out there.

Went to look at it and it was a wreck, def been dropped, the info above in post was very helpfull.

glad to say i have found another and i have put my deposit down on it too.

2004, with 3100 miles :)

looked at a few average ones at other dealers between £3000 to £3500.

see this one and its mint, not mark on it.

i paid £3800, its got full mot and tax & it just had service too.

wanted to go dealer as wanted some warrantee.

know its a little over priced but its worth it.

Looks nice. A bit pricey but I can understand the dealer warranty bit...

For a few quid more you could have had my '04 Factory though.....:thumbup

The price is not bad at all if you bought it from a dealer. Now you will need to get a nice can though..:thumbup

£3800 seems a very fair price with warranty and service, you need to get an Akrapovic or Arrow exhaust can though to get rid of the standard boat anchor. Neil has one for sale i believe if he hasn't already sold it (see for sale section). Also invest in a 16 tooth front sprocket to start with, it makes a world of difference to the rideability

as i dont know what size the front sproket is standard...what effect does a 16 tooth front sproket give?
