Hey guys, im not a hardcore racer, but am going on a track day and usually sport 2ct's. the damn shop put reg pilot powers and are closed the next day and i wont have a chance to get them changed before the track on monday so i guess i have to deal with it. im putting the regulatory 100 miles on them so they get the oils etc right and would like to know if i should be a bit more cautious compared to the 2ct's, are the reg pilot power decent? so far they feel good, but i'm still pissed...:puke

jennings GP. i stay in jacksonville florida, U.S. My buddy is infinitely better than I, but should have vids/pics to show when we return monday.

I had 2ct's on my old CBR6 and have powers on my mille and both feel the same to me :dunno but you may ride your bike harder than i do, both inspire confidence :thumbup

Both of those Michelins have good compounds to fang on..warm em up, and they will stick like sh*t to a blanket. Take it easy at first until you wear the edges some... they can be a little green first up. Relax & feel em out, i am sure you will build confidence with them in no time at all. If you have tyre warmers..fit them for a time before you hit the track, all the better. Have a great day mate & enjoy..but mainly bring it home in one piece. Cheers & Regards, Aj :thumbup

agree there is virtually no difference in riding with the tyres, i just put on a 2ct rear because it was same price as a replacement power, since riding i havent really noticed much difference (apart from the usually new tyre slipperyness) and now its scrubbed in and the weather is hot it rides just as brilliantly as the plain power did before!

infact the ONLY difference is pilot powers have the exact same grippy rubber throughout the entire tyre, the 2ct have the same grippy rubber on most of the tyre except a band of harder rubber in the middle of the tyre to extend life

Been running mine on Corsa 3's but 900 miles for a rear far toooo expensive. Just had 2ct's fitted and have done 200 miles today..First impressions are very good, the bike feels far more stable crossing white lines/cats eyes, and with my riding the grip on corners no different to the Corsa's..

Depends on how you ride on the track, remember 2ct's are not an out and out track tyre, they are a sports road tyre, me personally, i would not use them on track but do on the road, you could buy a set of race scrubs for £75-£80, something like a S/C Pro soft front and medium compound rear, if you are not expecting to really push it then the 2 ct's will be OK, but only up to a point:thumbup

What's the point..:biggrin

simply put, you can ride the bike off any tyre with the handling and lean angles of the new bikes...ya just gotta find that over the fence limit and hang back off it...i agree with Badger..no road tyre when pushed too hard on a circuit will feel real safe.
