Pilot Power CT2, WEIRD?!?

I've had loads of 2cts on my 03 and then 02 mille and loved them. No issues at all and bags of grip. The rear would spin up a little but that was due to me hitting the throttle early on the apex which is normal and there's not a tyre in the world going to prevent this on a powerful bike. I would suspect you're either running a 180/55 section on the back or the tyre is squared off but you sound experienced so im guessing you would have checked both of these so other than that you're talking about geometry or suspension.
Change brand of tyres by all means but your problem is not related to this model of tyre maybe just this particular tyre! Is it a really old tyre that hasn't been used because they do go off? On a new slippy rear tyre i'm off the edges within 20-30miles that's how confident I am in their performance.
I recently changed to Sports smarts just to see what the fuss was about and to be honest I can't tell the difference other than possibly the mileage.
Hope this helps and just for info I run 31-33psi front and 34-36psi rear

Regards Dave

It is fitted with a 180 rear, not the standard 190.

qualifier 2. knee-down in the rain? no problem! :D

None at all mate, i thought they where great and confidence inspiring! some people say they have problems with them but as i have said before i think its down to style. I know i have slated the power pures but again some people love em, i reckon it must be purely down to riding style and the way you tip a bike in. If you push the steering as your supposed too and get the head down you have lots of grip but if you dont and turn the steering and twist the body you go over and the bike is unstable. Therefore two completley differant styles that work the tyres in differant ways. My power pures could have been dodgy as they had been in the guys van a while but i just could not get on with them at all and they slid under fast cornering or hard braking in the dry but where like a fairgorund ride in wet. The dunies where just solid all round but the racetecs are ace, they do fire up as i say in the wet coming off the roundabouts but that is to be expected. can still nail the dual carriageway and m/way to work at 120 in wet between traffic, its only when tipped over but they do stick solid in peeing down rain on shell grip roundabouts!!;-)

nah it as on the mille..doh, 1.5ks damage..teach me to take risks on the full CF mille...yes I can go even lower..er..NOT
The donkey bounces much better doh..and yes they are ALL cocks..apart from me
ha ha
ck

I wasn't keen on the Pilot Powers or the Diablo Corsa 3. The standard Diablo suited me much better. I think I favour a slightly more sport touring based tyre, I don't really push it enough any more to warm up a sporty tyre properly., The roadsmarts seem to be pretty much there too.

Ouch! that'll learn ya lol. bet you dont want to do that every sunday?? LOL LOL

Wow all this crap about tyres, most modern tyres will out perform the avarage rider on here 2CT's are a good tyre, so stick with them

I don't like the way they make the bike fall into corners, i prefer to give the bars a good shove and manually turn the bike, i think i need a more rounded profile but thanks for the input.

You're right in what you say, and i think it's the fact that i like to give the bars a good shove and force the bike over rather than trying to hold it up goes against the steep profile of the 2ct's

Seriously?

With any bike and some confidence its not hard to overwhelm a lot of tyres modern or not. With the power else no one would ever highside, you can over load the front easy enough on the brakes, esply if you trail brake. Or in a bend if you carry a lot of corner speed and lean, otherwise no body would ever low side would they?. The grippier the tire the later all these things happen, and the more feedback and confidence they give the more likely more riders will reach the level where they can exploit those limits, and the more likely they are not to go over them. And with a few grand invested in our bikes, not to mention OUR LIVES, is it not a good idea to dicuss with others and give each other feedback on our experiences with different choices? You just said "CT`s are a good tire" which means you must have experienced bad or worse ones, to be able to rate them better?? hence choice, discussion and not 200quid blown on ***** or inappropriate tires! That cool with you? :thumbup

You cant go wrong with pirellis mate, even when I had that bad set, they still had the feedback to let me know when I was out of grip, hte rubber was shot but I never crashed, and I put that down to the feedback given by the construction. As I dont commute on mine I just by sc2 scrubs of ebay for 80quid a pop. (just not so good in the cold or on lots of short runs, but still always awesome feedback)
