I've decided I'm going to have a go at a trackday in Pembrey, went down there yesterday as it's about 7 miles from where I've moved too. Enquired about what the crack is & was given a little events calendar. There's two outfits that do the track days. Focused events who I believe are a national / International outfit & another Dude Phil Bevan who's a one man band. ex BSB champ I was told.

Anyway I was thinking about the weekend of 26th 27th May as June is no good due to other commitments other dates available then 21/2 July 11/12 Aug 1/2 Sept 22/3 Sept.

cost about £100 have found local accomodation down road from me.

So anybody up for it at end of may either Saturday or Sunday ??

i was there a couple of weeks back, first time there and really enjoyed it. its an excellent track, apparently ayrton sennas favourite !!

Done quite a few Phil Bevan days at Pembrey over the years. Always well run.

There's usually a gang of us when we do them and we allways stay in the Red Lion in Buryport which is cheap and cheerful as far as the accomodation goes but they do nice food and a cracking cooked breakfast.

A few of us were thinking about doing the September ones as an end of season finale!

Now there's a thought. A sept fudfest to the lakes (tuonoworld organised trip) then an end of sept track day. Sounding like a plan

Can be done. 22nd & 23rd are the Phil Bevan dates. I recced accom up the road from me who will probably do a deal, but Bury port works well too.

About 5 Miles from my doorstep to the race circuit.

ooops, sorry, WAS his favourite !!

Was a popular F1 testing place as away from nosey parkers until regulations changed, was speaking to one of the marshals who said that some of the car manufacturers still test there behind closed doors.

Never done a track day really like the idea do they have a novice group on these days? Do many people have a bad experience by dropping the bike could end up very expensive?

They have three groups, novive, Intermediate & experienced. I don't think there's any pressure to ride any faster than you are happy too. It is not a race.
Watched part of a programme on tele the other week & a girl was going for the first time, I believe the briefing & tutorial is very thorough. Some of the experienced guys on here may be able to add more.

your right tricky on all counts really, 3 groups, price for me was £100 and you ride in your own group at your own pace. The quick guys will just ride round you so all you need to do is concentrate on your lines, braking points and having fun !!
the briefing is short but thorough, theres usually free insruction available too and the cafe is pretty good to boot.
when i went it pissed down all day and on michelin power pures it was a bit slippy to say the least, in the dry however theres lots of grip..

was looking at doin gtrack day on t, but can see the summer is going to disappear...will keep follwoing this post and see what happens...:thumbup

Got side tracked today but have got the morning off tomorrow so shall make a phone call. Do you have to do anything to your bike in advance such as taping up the headlamps & indicators or removing anything Mike.

just make sure your within the noise limit ( 105 db at pembrey i think ! ) and either take your mirrors off or fold them in. You dont want to be worrying about whats going on behind you ! No need to tape anything up.
goes without saying but make sure your tyres are in good nick and at the right pressure...

Booked for next Saturday, have still got places in Novice group. 0845 026 7272 if anybody's up for it £99.00
will let you know how I get on.
