PC3 and Gabro chip or not

Hi guys,

My bike is a Gen1 Tuono Fighter (53 plate) with the following:

1. K&N filter
2. 16/44 sprockets
3. Fuel midi end can (road legal with baffle in)
4. Standard original chip

I have bought a second hand PC3 (with a selection of maps)

My question is this........do I get a Gabro chip and fit both? Or does the PC3 make having the chip fitted a waste of time.
Does the Gabro chip allow the trim pots on the ECU to work (I know that some chips don't),
and does it matter to the use of the trim pots if the PC3 is fitted.

Looking forward to see what the consensus of the forum is.

Ok I'll put you out your misery:

I'd not do a pcIIInwith a gabro chip. If you search you'll see just how much and how easy the gen 1 chips are

They work well. Gen 2 is more effort. You can e-mail him via af1 racing, he's also on interweb

To be honest I've not head anyone doing both, the chips or re-flashes Are good

Just my 2 pence worth, hope info useful. Good luck with what ever you decide to do

Thanks El,

This is exactly the sort of response that I wanted :cheers
I only want to do something that works, and not waste time and effort and money for no real reward.

Gabro chip is a good generic map for whatever mods you have so altered fuelling and altered ignition.

Trim pots should be adjustable

U can fit the. Pc3 as well but probably worth it only if you havw a dedicated custom mapbto your bike and mods...the pc3. Will only alter the fualling trim pots are still adjustable....

It all dpends if. You want to eek out every last bit of power... Do ypu fancy57's modded collector..maybe a. dual system etc etc it doesnt end

I'm not going for modded collector and/or twin cans. Also not interested in a modified airbox or 57's

I just want good/accurate fueling with the minor mods that I have had done.

Cheers :cheers

Does a modded collector do anything on a Gen2?
Gen1 only the gen2 system is actually a copy of the gen1 akrapovic system more or less so all good there

I did mod a gen2 collector but the guy didn't have time to dial out the upset in fuelling so never got properly tested and was sent back.

If you want good accurate fuelling then always have the tbs and co levels set by someone who knows what they are doing

I.e. Griff at aprilia performance

No probs Fugly :cool

I must admit I am a bit dissapointed with the lack of suggestions/comments tho' :dunno

Is this a case of you don't like the answer ?

I don't have a gen 1. There is loads of info on this forum and others...
A gabro chip is the cheaper option, and will do the majority of what you are looking for at a very reasonable price I understand.
A Pc PROPERLY MAPPED will probably give you a marginally better result.... but will cost more.
You decide if it is worth it to you.
Both have a similar aim, so using both in my opinion would be a waste.
Properly set up before either would be a good start...

:)

Dear redratbike & felix,

I have had the tb's & co done by Griff (great job/great bloke) - but to achieve this he had to replace the "ti chip" that had been put in by a previous owner. This was replaced by a "standard chip" as this was all that Griff had available on that day. Griff suggested that a "better chip" could be fitted later if I wanted. Hence my request for comments/suggestions.

Felix: it's not that I don't "like" the responses, I just expected a few more......:dunno.

If I were you, I would pm Roy on here.
His gen 1 goes ballistic !
Dunno what chip he went for but he can switch maps and can wheeeeeeleeee for ever !
