Hi, i am looking for a pair of cans for my 2004 RSVR.. I want them to be loud!!!!! but legal looking. They need to have no scratches etc.. Not got a lot of spare cash but could raise £200 ish.... WHY.........

You`re in exactly the same boat as me mate; `04 RSVR, newly acquired, and looking for some cans to sweeten it up ! :thumbup

I was going to keep it standard, as it has the standard cans on at the moment, but then I thought "bollocks", why keep it standard at this age, when the warranty`s a distant memory, etc etc.......

So; if you drop on anything that looks/sounds good, let me know mate, and likewise, I`ll do the same......:biggrin

Cheers Badger, that actually sounds the dogs bollocks when cored, quite surprised me ! :thumbup

However, my standard cans, unfortunately, are a bit marked up, no dents, but various bits of marks, and stuff, that I can`t polish out, which is one of the reasons I`m looking to replace them.

Food for thought though, as you can generally pick up a pair of used standard cans, in good nick, for about £100 on ebay, so it may be worth me doing that, then spending the £60 to core them.

I was reading the thread you did on this with great interest earlier, and you obviously know your stuff !

Unfortunately I`m not that handy with the requisite tools.........is there somewhere you can actually get this done for you, by chance ?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have RSVR racing cans at the moment and the rh one has a dent to the front where it had been dropped prior to me owning it. Would you be able to cut the cans down, or push the dent out at the same time? I can send images if you wish. Where abouts are you? Cheers Steve..

Standard cans are pretty cheap in good nick, all you are doing is turning them into what the other race cans are and very cheaply, you can get baffles from CCC for them too, the other thing is they have all the standard can markings still on them for plod and MOT time.

You do not need to be a mechanic to do them, just someone that can use tools effectively, i am sure you must have a mate, or a mate of a mate that can do them:thumbup

Steve, you could try taking the dent out once the can is in bits, i personally would not cut them down due to probable power losses, i don't core cans for anyone other than myself Steve, but post some pics on here if you wish mate:thumbup

Sorry, thought you did the core work etc.. How do i go about it and how difficult is it to do?:dunno

Just beat me to it Badger........I was about to paste the link to this thread :biggrin

Great work/write up/pics, by the way ! :thumbup

Thanks Badger, what a superb explantion.. I do have the original cans which are a bit marked up, so may have a dummy run. However I am not sure i am the best person to have a go at this so may continue with my quest for replacement cans if anyone has any available. Your help Badger is much appreciated.. Many Thanks....

Rhodeseeker: Don`t know if these would do for you mate, but they are within the budget mentioned, so maybe worth a look at the ebay ad.........??

Throwing my thoughts in here... I did the coring thing on mine (took the easy option as posted by RedLight on the end of Badger's excellent 'How To' and basically all you need to be able to do is use a drill (carbide bit), a hammer & blunt scredriver or similar to ease the internals out, and an angle grinder - I'm a proper mechanical numpty me (so didnt bother making the baffle tube piece) but for the price of a drill bit and a decent grinding wheel I have myself the sweetest sounding RSV this side of Akroprovia. And in MHO they look the bollocks compared to aftermarket cans.
Have a go - if you end up buying new cans anyway you're no worse off

Thanks Dexter, I have been to look at these cans as they are local too me, but they are a bit more marked up than i would like. They do look good, but not quite what i want.. Cheers Mate....
