Hi guys, i've just re-sprayed my bellypan satin black, is there a lacquer you can buy that doesn't put a glossy sheen on it :dunno

I lacquered the mid and front section of the bellypan but it looks too shiney for the look I want but at least it will be better protected, but the side panels dont get the same sort of abuse so do you think it will be ok left as it is :dunno

Hi sprocker thought someone had posted pics of my bellypan there :devious although your decals look a lot lighter :dunno did you go for the light graphite after all?

I didn't use lacquer on mine on the advice of Steve who's spraying my fairing - he reckons if you want to use laquer it's best to spray it gloss black first then use a satin clear coat but he said it won't give any advantage protection wise as long as you give the satin black at least a week to cure before riding the bike. I've ridden several hundred miles with mine now and had no probs with stone chips as yet. Plus it's easier to touch up/respray without the laquer.

I've just made a couple of lion head decals for mine for now until the 'RSV' decals arrive. And yes it still has the 'bucket' on :biggrin.

Hi Gray,
Graphics look lighter due to the camera flash, and I think i'll leave it for a week then, as you say it will be easier to touch-up, and i may even re-do the bits i've lacquered :dunno I'll see what they look like on the bike first. Where are you getting the RSV decals from :dunno

I have one for the L/H panel but it's for a BLUE rsv, if anyone needs one pm me, its on e-bay now.

Yes it will look like Tantrum's :thumbup I saw his bike last month and it looks superb :thumbup although Tantrum has also done his side panels too..

That finish looks awesome. Also have been a fan the Matt Black.

Gave it three coats of Halfords plastic primer and three coats of satin black, dead easy to apply as it's not as critical you get a perfect coverage for a perfect finish and the glossy finish would be too much if you know what i mean...total cost for paints £35

I'll stick a picture up when it's all back together.

Dave, just to back up what Steve said, when I painted the front mudguard I put it back on the bike the next day and went for a short ride and the paint got pretty chipped so I had to redo it and leave it a week and it's been fine since.

I'm getting the RSV decals from The Image Works as they've quoted me £25 plus postage and the original Aprilia decals are £60 plus post. I'm going to ask them to fit them as well if it's not too expensive.

I see you placed your Aprilia decals in the original position - I put mine higher but it was a bugger getting the decal on properly over that bulge on the right hand side :crazy

How's the sidepanels coming along?

By the way - Congrats on the RSV of the Month :thumbup

If you take your bike to Imageworks I dont think they will charge for fitting :dunno they did my cbr panel for free :biggrin they gave me the same quote for my panels too, £18 for one or £25 for the pair.
I thought about putting the aprilia decals higher but didn't fancy fitting it over the bump :jack thats why I fooked the cbr decals up and had to buy another decal (i think thats why he fitted it for free...felt sorry for me:biggrin)

I've just ordered the paint for the side panel yesterday :thumbup

Nice job on the cover's Sprocker. Will look smashing!

I must admit the satin black finish does look :inlove I even contemplated doing the whole bike satin black...no decals whatsoever (maybe just the ones i put on the bellypan)....just all black...tank, panels the whole lot :dunno is there someone on here who can do a photoshop mock up ?
