I have seen at least 2 versions of the 1st generation red. One was very close to Honda's 2002 red used on the 600 cbrF4i. The other was more orange and very close to the color red of the Aprilia sticker that is on my steel tanked 2000 Yellow Mille. Your best bet is to bring a sample to the painter.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's the orange one as my huge collection of reds are too red! I'll run the mud gaurd down the paint supplies see what they can do! Like I say it's pre coloured plastic so can't easily find the code

I was surprised to find that my painter had a full mixing rig that was able to combine pigments, solvents and additives. They also had a wall of paint chips. They were able to come very close to my sample using the chips. They would spray what they call a lollipop with the chip's code and then adjust the color by adding the correct pigment. I was amazed.

My secret to finding a good and inexpensive body shop is to travel away from the city and find a smaller population area that has some poor folk up in it. Operating costs are lower in the sticks and the clients generally poorer. Then you ask around. Turns out everyone knows the best and second best body shop in the area.

I priced my paint application in New Orleans, Louisiana and outside - Luling, Louisiana - half price. Plus the guys out in the country really appreciated the business.
